Hi all,
i started a little "practical language comparison" - practical
in the sense that i compare how actual distributions and versions
and their libraries (not abstract language specifications) solve small
test cases like the 8 queens problem.
Currently there are contributions for 17 different languages, and
none for Phyton (and Lisp. And Forth. And many others ).
If someone is interested in contributing a few implementations,

Nice little series by Seth Stevenson for Americans daydreaming about
emigration. Somewhere, anywhere ... maybe Amsterdam?
I've never been to the Netherlands myself, but it sounds very
civilized.
Extra Python connection, besides the obvious one: Is "gezellig" related
to the Zen of Python? (

I notice that although the .NET scheme for creating multi-language
applications is generally very good (from the programmers point of view), it
seems to be lacking in one important respect: there doesn't seem to be any
way I can collect together all string literals and/or form resource files in
a manner that a translator (without visual studio or knowledge of it) can
interpret the translated strings! In ye olde days, we had a single...

I'm trying to wrap my head around the docs at python.org related to the
gettext-module, but I'm having some problem getting it to work. Is
there any really simple, step-by-step on how to use this module
available?
This is my script so far :
import gettext
gettext.install('test2', '.', unicode=1)
lang1 = gettext.translation('test2', languages=)

I plan to write site on a few language. For this reason I'm trying to
find the most convenient way to output strings depending on their
unique ID. As far as I plan to have pretty much strings translated, I'm
concerned about the performance issues any of the approaches may have
on the server. Perhaps someone has already solved that of kind of
problems and can share his/her experience in this matter.

What is the correct way to mark up, say, a div or p, to indicate
that it is in a different language to the main page? Are there
any potential pitfalls with different browsers associated with
doing this? If it makes any difference, this is in reference to
a page in mixed English and French:

Hi,
I have implemented language translation in my website using the guidlines provided in the article "Implementing Real-Time Language Translation Using .NET Control Adapters"
(http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=682119)
This code works very well for me except for one issue. It does not do the translation for HTML controls. My website has a lot of HTML controls and I cannot redisign it at this stage. I would like to know if...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
