I've a gridview,in one of my webpage, which displays all the prticipants who are participating in a perticular activity with an unique id.Now the requirment is i need to add one button/linkbutton up on ckicking tht i've to dispaly some of the coloums of the gridview in edit mode..in a seperate control.(like in another gridview) and update the modifications done by the user to the underlying database.

Could any one plz give me some inputs in this regards.

I don't understand the question, shouldn't all id numbers be unique? What use would duplicate id numbers be?

Assuming you were using sql it would be a simple case to query the database selecting only unique, rather than relying on loops etc.

Have you considered using a Template Field to display your data as text while viewing the data and display your data in input fields while editing?

Have you considered using a DetailsView Class?

If these don't work for you, have you considered creating a Web User control to allow editing?

Ok, you would like to implement master detail data display using gridview and detailsview. When a row is selected to edit, the associated data will be displayed in the detailsview in edit mode which can be updated.

Please have a look at Asp.net Master-Detail Data Display using Gridview and detailsview

Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a gridView (grid1), which as a templateColumn. In the template column, I have put in a gridView (grid2) and a ObjectDataSource (objectDataSource2). Question is... How to I pass the current_row_key of Grid1... to the objectDataSource2 parameter? (so that the second grid, gets only the information to do with current row of grid1)

Hello, Does anyone have an idea on how I can filter the data in the gridview control that was returned by an sql query? I have a gridview that works fine when I populate it with data. Now I want to look at that data and filter it based on what is in it. I know that this could have been done with data sets and data views in asp.net 1.1 but how is this done now in asp.net 2.0?

I've been googling for some time, and could not find the solution to this problem. I am testing the paging feature of gridview. I have a very simple web form on which the user can select a few fields to be included in the table, which is to be bound to the gridview. The web form looks like so (Don't worry about the stupidity of this web form for now.):

Hi, I am designing a ASP.NET 2.0 front end for an activity based costing model and am interested in getting some general guidance on what design route to take. I can work out the specifics but need to make sure I am going down the right track. In particular I am unsure whether a gridview will do the job required. Quick intro of the activity based costing model: it splits costs first across activities then across products, e.g.:

Hi folks, Here's a weird problem... I have a nested GridView setup (i.e. a GridView within a GridView), and within the nested GridView I have a DropDownList item which has the OnSelectedIndexChanged event set on it. This triggers just fine, but within the codebehind of the OnSelectedIndexChanged event, I need to scan through all the entries in the nested GridView (to see if the user changed a value to an already existing value in the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
