All Sorts of Trouble with the Personal Site Starter Kit

I decided to give another go at getting the Personal Site Starter Kit
working for me. I'd really love to get this working.

But I've had nothing but trouble. Specifically, there are all sorts of
problems with the photos. At one point, it shows I have 4 photos where I
administer the photos yet shows I have only 3 where photos are normally
viewed. And when navagating those photos, sometimes it just shows the same
photo again. But more often I get a page-not-found error. There are also
issue like when I log in, I do not get the manage menu option until I
manually refresh the page or go to another page. I've completely recreated
the database and am seeing the exact same thing.

I know this starter kit is old, and can't believe it hasn't been updated.
I'm hoping I'm to the point where I am able to figure these problems out.
But, not being able to find anything on the Web, I just thought I'd check if
anyone else has ran into these issues, know where I might find a discussion
of these problems, or if it's just me.

Thanks.

Jonathan

I had seen both articles but haven't yet implemented anything in them. Doing
so is probably worthwhile. However, looking them over, I can't see anything
about any of the problems I'm having. This makes me think it might be a SQL
Sever Express vs. SQL Server 2005 issue or something else like that, which
would still cause me problems even after making other changes. Unless I
missed it, no one else seems to be having the same bugs I'm seeing. That's
driving me nuts.

Thanks.

Developed this personal WEB site with the new ASP.NET 2.0 Beta: http://www.techsoft.no/bendik/ It has got this problem: After a while browsing through pictures on the site, an error occurs: 'Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.'

I have started using Personal Site Starter Kit with Visual Web Developer 2005. I realized that for the photo gallery portion, I can have an album set to be public or not. And if I set it not to be public, it defaults to Friends role. I have more roles like 'Family' and I want to be able to choose which roles have access to which albums. Is it possible? How? Thanks in advance!

Using the Personal Web Starter Kit as an example, in the Register.aspx CreateUserWizard step, the default setting for DisableCreatedUser="True". Two questions: 1) On the production site, how do I set the user to enabled? 2) On the production site, how do I get an email sent to the admin that this event occured?

Sorry I'm new, this must be easy, but how do you add the log in name to the title of the web page? (This is using the Microsoft Personal Web page starter kit), the top of the page is listed below. Is there a tag I need for the "Your Name Here | Home" part? Or maybe the "Your name" is supposed to be my web page and not the user name. Is it then possible to put a variable in there? <%@ Page Language="C#"...

I created my first WEB application from Personal WEB Starter Kit template (C#). I made just minor changes like Connection String and some texts. I created SQL Server database on the hosting server and I uploaded all files to the hosting server. I ran my site http://www.srssite.com and everything was fine. I uploaded 1 picture and tested my site again. I noticed just a very small difference in speed (opening default page initially and...

Okay, I've spent considerable time trying to figure out why I get random problems when browsing the images in the Personal Website Starter Kit. (Note: I found a number of these sites on the Web, and all their photos browse just fine. Something is screwy even after recreating the database.) Although a few things are going on, one is that the navigation buttons stop working at some random point. When I click them, the page appears to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
