Hi all
Have 2 perculiar problems at the moment:
1) SpecialFolder enum is not being picked up in Intelli-sense (but it is
compiling ok when I use this enum)
2) FolderBrowser displays an empty dialog with just OK/Cancel buttons.
I have tried uninstalling VS.Net and re-installing but that hasn't made the

I am trying to get the path of a user's Personal folder from within a web form.
When I use the call:
Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal)
I get absolutely nothing back. When I query for Environment.UserName, it
returns ASPNET (which makes sense). The fact that the user is ASPNET and not
the real local user could explain why I'm not getting anything back with my
GetFolderPath calls.

I need a patch that is returned by API's SHGetFolderPath with
CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS. I expected to find it among other enums in
Environment.SpecialFolder enumeration. But I cannot find it there.
Do I really have to PInvoke SHGetFolderPath in this case? Why someone forgot
about this one CSIDL? Is it just an annoying omission or there is a deeper
reason for this?

is it possible to get the environment variables for users other than the
user that is currently executing the application?
For example if I run a system service, how can the service find the
SpecialFolder.InternetCache of a certain user?

Hello you,
the Environment.SpecialFolder enumeration of .NET 1.0 doesn't have the
member "MyComputer". Is there anyway to get this 'virtual folder' and its
contents in another similar way?
Unlike some other 'virtual folders', there is no reference in the registry
to a physical directory for "MyComputer".

I am porting my current project to a 64 bit machine and I am having
some issues with folder paths that vary between a 64 and 32 machine for
any 32 bit application.
The below calls return c:\program files in a 32 bit machine and 64 bit
machine. But i am looking for c:\program files X86 folder in the 64 bit
machine.

Hi All
I just want to find the location of AppData in the user applicaiton.
I can find that by just one line
Environment.getPath(Environment.specialfolder.ApplicationData)
If I run this at my local laptop (Client Side) then it gives me right result with the user name as kmike(My user name) but It gives me result as Default User in the resulted textbox string because I am using this at server side.
