I am passing the whole object instead or parameters in my select and update
methods.
I can get the updated object if I set UpdateMethod, let ASP.NET autogenerate
an update button, and then press update after making changes, but I don't
want that update button.
How can I get the updated object when the user presses one of my other
action buttons?

I'm using an ObjectDataSource with a stored procedure and am getting the
following error when trying to update (ExecuteNonQuery):
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Procedure or Function 'UpdateRegistrant'
expects parameter '@EMail', which was not supplied.
The field value was null in the database and not changed in the FormView so
is null going back into the stored procedure. I'm stumped and would greatly
appreciate any suggestions.

Hi,
I just tried out the ObjectDataSource of ASP.NET 2.0. A simple application
works with a GridView bound to an ObjectDataSource. The ObjectDataSource is
set to a (factory) class (PersonFactory) with static methods (Select,
Update, Delete, see below). The factory methods work with instances of a
simple class (Person, see below). Select and Update works, but the Person
object passed to the Delete method is always empty (Id == 0;...

I have a formview bounded to an objectdatasource.
All ok but I have some trouble with a checkbox: when I am in update
mode and I update the record, this field is never updated (no errors
thrown).
The field bounded in the database (MySql) is a string field
(ENUM('True','False') default 'False'.
The checkbox is correctly bounded in the itemtemplate and in the
edititemtemplate.

Hi ALL,
I wonder if anyone has been using n-tier to bind to a GridView control by
using the ObjectDataSource. This is our first OOP web application, and we
have no tables. Right now we are simply working with objects in memory.
So, it appears as though Microsoft requires that our datamapper classes
reside inside a folder called "App_Code", and NO WHERE ELSE.
So, has anyone successfully been able to place their datamappers in a...

I really hope this is not a case of "this silly thing will never
work".....lots of time invested in troubleshooting this already.
I have created a standard ASP.NET web form (.aspx) with several collections
of textboxes prompting for entry into a fairly monolithic database. I
decided to create a business object (called Employee) and use the
ObjectDataSource to broker data being transmitted between the UI and my
Employee object (and...

I have a pop-up form with a three columned Grid that has checkboxes in
a Template Column in the first/left-most column. (The form is to
allow users to select "Members" of a group, where they check or clear
the boxes next to the potential members they want to add or remove.)
The Object Data Source is as follows...
<asp:ObjectDataSource ID="odsMembers" runat="server"
SelectMethod="GetGroupMembersSelectList"...

I have a GridView populated by an ObjectDataSource.
I am having issues passing the parameters to the objectdatasource. I
have verified that the method is being called but none of the
parameters are being populated. Integers are being passed as 0 and
strings are empty regardless of what I changed them to in Edit mode on
the GridView.
My object method to perform the update:

Hello,
I have some textboxes in a FormView control. The FormView is bound to an
ObjectDataSource. The ObjectDataSource has a SelectMethod that gets an
object and the textboxes in the FormView are bound to the Object's
properties. This all works fine.
The ObjectDataSource also has an UpdateMethod that points to a function
that accepts the whole object as a parameter. But when I call the
ObjectDataSource.Update() method, the specified...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
