No reply on my previous query, so I'll post this again. I've done a
bit more research in the interim.
I'm trying to find an easy way to port code from the older VS2003
format to the format used in VS2005. VS2005 uses partial classes to
split off the compiler-generated sections of forms. It keeps the
editable files uncluttered.
I generated very simple projects with VS2003 and with VS2005 to
compare the output. Following are...

Running a solution with about 20 sub-projects total about 150.000 lines of
code.
Typing code is slow (delay when typing fast).
Pressing next line while debugging is slow.
Pressing Ctrl-F for quick find is rediculous slow.
Everything is slow.
Running Exe is fine though
This is on a HP Workstation machine with Xeon 3GHz (HT Enabled) with 2 GB

I'm not sure if this is a bug being caused by visual studio, or by the vb
compiler itself.
I have good size solution (33 projects) and am consistently having a problem
with one project..
Basically everytime I build, I get the compiler error bc30456...which is
basically that some local variable is not declared. However, the variable is
declared...and basically if I change its declaration from private to
protected the project will...

I'm using VB .NET and it is extremely slow. I went through all the support
channels a few months back and since then have stopped development on the
project. We are losing money and I have developers idle. Whats the deal MS?
Everyone on the forums and all over the web are complaining about this why
has there not be a hotfix or something yet?
I have an application that is mid stream upgrade and the exe as well as the
dev environment is...

Hi all,
Here's the link to the issue we were seeing on our ASP.NET system when
modifying, adding and deleting directories in framework 2.0.
http://blogs.msdn.com/toddca/archive/2005/12/01/499144.aspx
I then tried a few of solution I found while perusing Google,
- FCNMode registry mod
- Relocating to App_Data folder to create/modify/delete directories.

Hi All,
Is it possible to set the InitialDirectory property of an
OpenFileDialog so it will open at the "My Computer" level? I want it
to open showing all the available drives. If so, what do I put in the
property? I've tried the obvious - "My Computer", but of course that
doesn't do it.
Thanks

Hi,
I have a problem where our app when compiled in VS2005 runs about 50%
the speed it attains in VS2003. This is an unmanaged C++ app.
I have tried most combinations of the optimization and language settings
with little change in run speed.
I compared the generated native code in various places in the code and
noticed two things.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
