The situation I find myself in right now is that my home (read: development)
machine has PHP5 installed but my target machine (read: production) only has
version 4 installed. This has caused a couple of problems with testing
passing my code but the production machine failing. (one example is the
str_ireplace() function). I have been doing testing for the existence of a
function but I first have to know if it is exclusive to version 5...

Hi there.
I have updated (patched) a 7.3.4.0.1 installation to 7.3.4.5.0, and
would like to know if I can use the databases (which has been running
on the updated installation for a while) if I have to downgrade to
7.3.4.0.1 again. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kenneth Osenbroch

Hello:
I'm wondering if there are procedures anywhere for DOWNgrading a MySQL
database to a more stable version. I'v recently upgraded to
4.1.3-beta and was hoping to roll back to 4.0.20 production. I'm
seeing to many spurious problems at the beta level (which are to be
expected given its status).
Finally, could anyonw hazzard a giess as to when 4.1 may become the
stable production release>

I was just looking at a demo training that mindleaders has on .net

And I don't believe this is correct or at least is misleading to me:

Hello:
I have an awkward situation where I must downgrade from 7.4 to 7.1. I
have two databases already in 7.4. I'm largely ignorant concerning
postgresql: am I going to have any severe problems downgrading?
Thanks

I have an COM server in an assembly. When it is deployed on a target computer
it needs to be registred with RegAsm. I created a custom action in the deploy
project, starting RegAsm with the assembly DLL as command argument. It all
works as expected.
To make RegAsm available I installed it from the framework bin directory to
the componentes application folder on the target machine. An custom action
can only refer executables in application...

Hello all,
I have a C# application written using Visual C# 2005 Express. I believe it
uses some of the .Net 2 controls and so on.
I want to run this application on Linux using mono 1.2 (supports .Net 1.1).
What is the best approach to downgrade this application to use .Net 1.1 stuff?
Thanks

I am working on an application in VS2008. I have set the target
framework to 2.0. I distributed the app to a coworker in MSI format.
When he tried to install it, he was told that he needed to install the
3.5 framework. I am wondering, when I created the project, I didn't
even notice the dropdown in the create project dialog to select the
target framework, so it was initially created with 3.5 as the target
framework. But I went into the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
