Hello,
What could possibly cause data in the SQL server database to be
removed, except being deleted manually? We had a couple of situations
where data in certain records disappeared although the records were
still there. The data is entered and editted through the web interface
in ASP. The web interface is accessed by anyone who has an account in
our database.
I am more of a web programmer, not a SQL server administrator, so not
very...

Hello,
Can someone point me to getting the total number of inserts and updates on a table
over a period of time?
I just want to measure the insert and update activity on the tables.
Thanks.

Using mysql 4.0.23-
What is the best way to execute several (hundreds of) inserts and updates?
Rather than issuing tons of individual inserts and updates, can I send the
strings to a text file and then have mysql do them all??
IE :
query.txt
insert into table1 (col1,col2) values (1,2);

I am relatively new to python and am developing an application using
mod_python/pygresql/postgresql.
Being attracted to the idea of database portability, I started out using
the DB-API 2.0 compliant pgdb module. However, I am finding it to be
pretty clunky compared to the classic pg interface.
It just doesn't seem "pythonic" to me. Chief among my concerns is the
way it won't return results as a dictionary, so I have to address the...

Is there a way to perform multiple inserts and updates to SQL Server with
stored procedures and the Command object's named parameters all at once? The
only way to do this that I'm gathering so far is to either run each
insert/update individually, or to write out each SP execution string with
it's parameters separated by semi-colons, and run it that way. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

I have been in search of a better way to handle bulk inserts and
updates into SQL 2000 using c# and while I have found a few different
ways to accomplish this I was wondering what is considered to be the
"BEST" method.
Scenario:
Every day I have a CSV file which is intended to both update and add
records to a SQL table. There is a matching ID column in the CSV file
and in the SQL table, when a match is made an update is performed,...

We are prototyping an application that is inserting 500 rows into a
table. One method is to using batching and make one database call to
insert all 500 rows, the other method is to make 500 database calls
insert 1 row each time. The problem is that the batching method is
about 20% slower. Does anyone have any insights as to why this is the
case? I was expecting the batching to be faster.
DB2 9 on AIX 5.3 64 bit.
Thanks!

We are using 8.2.9 Windows 64 edtion, in one of our projects we need
to recreate a few lager tables which have many millions of rows each,
we have used concurrent Java threads to read from data source and do
batch inserts to the target tables concurrently, to speed up the
inserts we have used the following configuration policies:
1. Use large page size (32K) and extend size (256) on the target db,
2. Use large buffer pools for the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
