another div layout problem

My default.aspx page has two div's. The top div holds a menu and the
bottom one holds a 3rd party tabstrip with 10 pages of varying height. I
only want a single vertical scroll bar, the browser viewport. If I hard
code the bottom div with a height as large as the tallest page in the tab
strip I get the desired result. Anything less, then one or more pages will
have a second vertical scroll bar. I coded the bottom div to be "100%" and
it appeared to work, but when I hovered the mouse over the menu, the bottom
div shrunk in size to the bottom of the expanded menu and did not return
when the menu collapsed. I tried putting both divs in another "100%" div
but that was no better. I am floating the top div over the bottom one, but
even if I keep it simple and dont float it, I still have the same problem.
After spending some time looking at this, I hacked out a solution by haveing
each page's body onload calculate its own height and then set the parents
parent div height.

I am a newbie when it comes to css stylesheets and I am sure there is a
cleaner way to do this.

...thanks..

Hi, Once I was happy with my new deezign, I noticed how bad it breaks in IE (all versions I tried). Since IE7 didn't give acceptable results, I wrote a simplified style that I would fetch to IE. How to do it is the point of my post. I am using for now conditional comment (clean) to give IE its CSS, and a IE parsing bug (not clean) to hide the real CSS from IE:

I would be grateful for recommendations for a CSS layout (header, 2 cols, footer) that can accomodate dynamically added elements. I am not having any luck so far getting this to work in Mozilla/Firefox. Success so far only with IE. In Mozilla/Firefox, the layout does not adjust when nodes are inserted into the document dynamically. Layout: H E A D E R COL1 COL2

This problem has got to have a simple solution and I can't be the first person who has ever handled it. Perhaps Google is no help because I'm not using the right terms? (I did find one post on-point, but no one responded to it.) I have a two column layout with a header and a footer. If the "content" is longer than the "navigation", there is no problem. However, if the content is shorter than the navigation, the navigation menus...

I am re-designing a website which currently makes use of Frames. (I want to replace them with something more convenient.) It has a layout page, a menus frame and content frame for various content pages (also a links frame.) What I want to do is make the site completely dynamic. As in, I want to keep the layout, content, menu and links areas in separate files so that updating is easy. Or at least separate the layout from the content so that...

Please check out my javascript library that allows you to create any layout for your web page, nested as deep as you like, adjusting to width and height of a browser window. You just describe it in javascript object and that's all. No need to know CSS hacks, no need to clutter your html with tables. http://www.bravelayout.scarabeo.biz/Quickstart

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
