impossible to have initialization script in master page content?

PJ6
It is apparently impossible to emit a initialization script (that refers to
a specific element) using RegisterClientS criptBlock; if it is emitted
OnLoad, the browser throws an exception that it cannot find the element,
because it's executed client-side before the control is rendered. If I try
it in the control's render, the header has already been rendered, so the
script never makes it to the client.

Emitting the initialization directly in the control's render works fine in
IE, but Firefox apparently ignores inline script so I can't use that
solution.

Is there any way around this problem?

Never mind... FF did execute the script, I just didn't think it did.

In ASP.NET 2.0, is it possible to use a control that's on a Master Page as a select parameter in a content page's datasource control? For example, the Master Page has a drop down list of Departments. Content pages are various Department reports listed in a TreeView control on the Master Page. From the content page in the VWD Configure Data Source wizard (which I love!), I was disappointed when adding a WHERE clause that the Control ID list...

1. What are some compelling solutions for using Master/Content pages with Web Pages? 2. Where is the Web Part Manager instantiated? ...in the Master Page? ....Content Page? ...elsewhere?

I am trying to access strongly typed properties in a page's master page from the content page. I followed an article that describes how to do this, and it seems quite straight forward. However when I try to access the property from my content page intellisense does not show the public property. Likewise when I go to compile I get an error saying that Specifically here is the article I am trying to follow: ...

Hi, Using VS 2005/VB.net. I need to add a meta description tag and change a stylesheet link from a page based on a master page. Found this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/reference/design/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnvs05/html/masterpages.asp#masterpages_topic8 Which seems to suggest it's possible (Listing 11 half way down the page) but the method for adding a meta tag Master.Page.Header.Metadata.Add("Description",...

We are trying to develop an Engineering application using PHP, Javascript with Informix as the back-end. Is it possible to retrieve data using Javascript but by accessing the Database. I am not allowed to use the PHP because this will require the user to insert the part number on the first...

Hi, It's easy enough to get a content page to refer to public properties on its associated master page e.g. public partial class master_secure : System.Web.UI.MasterPage { public Label MyLabel = new Label(); }

My master page has a drop down list of languages. When the user selects a new language, I would like to call a method in the currently loaded content page to load all the fields with text in the chosen language. My current approach is in the Content page to hook into the SelectedIndexChange event of the dropdown list (ID is ddlLanguage), but I am not receiving the event (see code below). Is there a better way to do this? Alternately,...

I'm using some Java Script I found that supports a 'back' button on my ASP.Net page. The Asp.Net page uses a Master page. I thought I'd put the Java Script in a Java Script file . The thought was that I could use this script in other pages. So I put a reference to the script file in the <head tag of the Master page. But that does not work because the <head tag of the Master page also contains a 'runat=server' statement. And only one <head...

Hi - We need to be able to invoke a child (contentplaceholder) page from a master page and have the child run some jscript code in the initialization event to load data specific to that child. We can't seem to find a way to do it. The page.load event seems to be limited to the master page. How can we do this on the child page? Thanks for any help.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
