FrontPage extentions not installed

Hi,

I tried to create a new web site using VS 2005 on Vista Ultimate. The
server is on a different box and it runs IIS 6. I get the error "unable to
create the web 'http://site'. The web server doe not appear to have the
FrontPage extensions installed'.

I found a KB article about Vista and VS but it didn't solve the problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks

First make sure you install the IIS 6 compatibility stuff. Control Panel >>
Add/Remove Programs >Add/Remove Windows Components.

You then have to install SP1 and the Vista only upgrade. Both are available
at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads.

I think that is it, but there may be one more tweak I had to do to get
things running.

Thanks for the reply,

I have done that already. SP1 and the Vista upgrade is installed and the
compatibility components are installed.

If you remember what was the tweak please post it, I would appreciate it

Thanks again

I have just bought a copy of Visual Studio.net. To write and test Web applications my notes tell me I need to install Internet Information services (IIS) and Frontpage extensions. Where can I get these? I have installed VS.net on a Windows XP machine. I would assume the above should be downloadable to developers... so we can develop???

Hi, I want to add a preinstall check in my installer to ensure that Frontpage 2002 Server Extensions are installed on a Windows 2003 (All editions) box. Currently I am checking for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\5.0\Location registry key. This key does not get removed, if I uninstall Frontpage 2002 Server Extentions from the Windows Components. Please help.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this or not but I am wondering if it is possible to run a "mixed" website. That is, use pages which leverage ASP.net where appropriate and pages which leverage FrontPage Server extentions (I use FP 2000) on the same web site. Is it possible? Any trips? Any features which won't work? (assuming I don't try to mix the format on an

Is FrontPage Server required for using InterDev? I am a beginner. When I tried to create a project, the wizard showed that MS FrontPage Server Extentions have to be running on the server. I was having trouble to debug the other ASP pages, I wonder if this was causing it. Thanks! Wanjun

I am having this ridiculously frustrating problem, migrating an existing web app to VS.2005. Initially I was able to successfully convert my VS 2002 app, by opening the Localhost site using the new 'Local IIS' option (File -> Add Existing Web Site ->. Local IIS -> Select the Localhost site) and everything was OK. However, when I shut down and reboot, I was unable to open the same project and got the following error: "Unable to open...

Hi guys I'm trying to migrate to VS2005... I've managed to do that, but realised I'd opened my web projects as file projects, and I'm getting the error about network BIOS command limit. Anyway, I decided to have a go at loading them as web projects from our Win2k3 server. It gets so far and then says "The web server does not appear to have FrontPage server extensions installed".

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
