3-Tier Architecture that uses com+

Hi all

We have a 3-Tier Architecture that uses com+ from the days when our
websites used just classic ASP. All the .net examples I have found are
not using com+ or Enterprise Services. As I would like to revisit
this, to see if we should be still using com+ in our 3-Tier
Architecture but am unable to find documentation as to when to use com
+ and when not.

Does anybody know of any?

Or anybody have any thoughts this ?

Many thanks

Paul

Hello pb*****@gmail.c om,

COM+ is used widely by the windows, and it's not disappeared.
Everything depends on that are you gonna do.
If your are only concerning about rewriting the COM+ i think it's not very
good idea if it works very well right now.

So, if you have no problems with it - keep it as is.

If your are want to do with it by any means, i'd recomment to wrap it into
the EnterpriseServi ces. ES it the .NET wrapper upon COM+, exposing the number
interfaces with is used the COM+ beneath.

The only problem is that if you want to expose your com+ to outside of your
environment, for exaple using in internet, your com+ needs to be wrapped
by webservices (either introducing WCF or just providing SOAP by standard
way for EnterpriseServi ces)

It is very picky about what DLLs it will see though Others have had success using C++ to write a DLL that will work with Easy...

We have an ASP.NET application that uses COM objects through Interop. The web application requires access to network and database resources and hence, needs to impersonate a domain account. The problem is that even when it is configured to run under a certain identity through Web.config, the impersonation is not carried through to COM library. Consequently, the code in COM object runs under a local account and any code that needs to access...

What are the compile time and runtime differences between a .NET object? For example, with COM, an object is compiled and delivered as a native binary. It must be registered on the target machine. Then when an app is run and it uses the COM object, the COM object is loaded into a thread of the application process at runtime (if I'm not mistaken). For a .NET object (call it object_dotnet) that is in a DLL, is the object itself loaded...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
