ASP.NET 2.0 publish web site does not work

Hi all,

I have a solution with 5 class library projects and a web site that
has references to these projects.
The problem is, when I build the web site and browse through the
pages, there is no problem.

But when I try to publish the web site, errors come up that say ie.
"ABC does not contain a definition for DEF()". The weird part is,
there is a method DEF() in class ABC and it works when I build and
browse.

What is more weirder is that when I select the fixed naming option
during publish, there is no problem.
I do not wish to select this type of compilation because of
performance issues.

Please help...

You might want to consider switching over to the Web Application Project
model, which rarely suffers from these issues since all assemblies go into
the /bin folder as they did in ASP.NET 1.1

Thanks for the reply.
I believe that there should be a more solid solution for this issue.
What does aspnet_compiler do that normal batch build doesn't?
Because batch build works but precompiling with aspnet_compiler does
not...

I noticed a similar post awhile ago and in terms of my problem it wasnt a suitable answer so I will ask again. I have VS2005 running a on development machine in my office where I do all my development on existing and new applications. This environment also has its own Sql Server with dev versions of all our live Databases. Our live production server also its own Sql Server, these 2 Sql Servers are kept completely separate (for obvious...

Basically, how do I know that the release versions of all components are being published? The Build | Configuration Manager is confusing me a little in VS2005. I have three projects in my solution: 1) web service website. 2) SOAP Extension Class Lib that compiles to a dll 3) WinForm application with a proxy to test the web service.

Hi, I've read many posts in several news groups, but can't figure out how to publish my website. The specific error I'm getting (on the "successfully published website") is "Could not load the assembly 'App_Web_vxfyglsm'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page". I checked - The assembly DOES exist in the target web folder.

I don't know, but I find the Publish Web Site feature very lacking and weak. I mean, why does the damn thing have to delete unrelated directories like /images /documents etc. This is so impractical, what if my users generate these documents or images through their interaction with the site, and then I change some code and publish it, boom, everything is gone. I cannot put these folders outside the solution due to security/pathing...

What exactly is required in order to use Publish Web Site dialog in VS.NET 2005? Permissions, Front Page extenstion, etc? I keep getting different erros all the time - login boxes, server errors, etc. It's not like that it does not work, but the process is unstable, I can't quite figure it out.

I posted this last week end in the MSDN forums. No luck there. Let's see what the experts here have to say:-)))) I have a rather convoluted project. The distributable will come in eight different flavors, each with its main program, libraries, datafiles, doco, etc. Each flavor will also have one or more standalone executables that can be called as tools from within the main program.

Hi all, I am no longer able to publish a web site project using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I am publishing it to an FTP url, and this used to work just fine. I enter the username and password and select "passive mode" when publishing the site, like I have always done. Visual Studio deletes the existing files, but then doesn't write the new ones, though it tells me the operation was

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
