I'm writing an article and I need your informed opinions, so I ask you this:
1. Doesn't the web-enabled app generally run slower for one reason or
another?
2. Isn't the fact that application graphics must be limited, just proof of
#1, especially with low bandwidth situations?
3. Aren't the web-enabled apps really less feature rich because the
developer has to emulate the controls of a thick/fat client app, and
sometimes you just can't...

Hi, I am desperate to find an answer to this. I have submitted to man
forums and no one seems to know how to do this, but I know it
possible!
I need to create a situation where users can select items on a for
using either tick boxes or radio buttons and then click a button t
show ONLY what they have ticked on another page (or to PRINT ONLY th
items they have ticked boxes next to). One or the other - it doesn'
matter which.

If someone could just explain this to me...I just don't get it!
I have an aspx page where I retrieve several session variables and use
xmlDocument to transform xml file with xsl file into an instruction
document (not data based) - same as using an xml web control.
The resulting html is on the client? but what about the server side of
things? Trying to figure out how to change and save the xmlDocument.
It I put a button OUTSIDE of the...

How do you folks get a reliable and complete brief of what is required
before development starts?
I am forever going back to a client once a project has started saying "Hang
on, now that I've started building this I realise what you want is
impossible, we'll have to do this way instead....etc.."
OK, so this is partly down to me not getting all the facts from day one, but
if the client does not give detailed, accurate instructions there...

1. I can add a value to a listbox, but when the page posts back, I lose the
items I added from client side script. (Items added in server script stay
in the list.) I'm guessing it's a view state issue or something. How do I
add items to a listbox on the client side and have them acknowledged by the
viewstate process?
2. Is it possible to detect a doubleclick in a listbox on the client side?
Thanks.

Make the story short, I have a VB.NET client interface calling .NET
webservice, written in VB.NET as well.
I am trying to make the client as thin as possible so I let the
webservice part to handle most of the things.
Currently I have a class called "Product" sitting my webserivce like
the following:

Dear all,
I am having trouble generating a client proxy for a webservice whose
methods return a "complex" type. The type is complex in that it is a
class whose members are a mix of primitive types and of more elaborate
classes implementing IXmlSerializable. The resulting WSDL file for the
webservice has two separate schemas in its <types> sections, and the
client proxy (generated with wsdl.exe) is missing the definitions of
the...

Hi,
I have two listboxes on a page and need to move items between them - using
buttons (e.g. "<<" ">>"). Can this be done on a client side in asp.net?
I'd like to avoid hitting the server on every add/remove.
Thanks,
Bogdan

I am trying to edit Contacts in Outlook. This is so I can transfer numbers
from my address book which is an Excel spreadsheet to my mobile phone. I
came across the following snippet of code which enabled me to the contacts
at least list. I had to root around to discover CdoDefaultFolderContacts
(though it was guessable; how could I enumerate win32com.client.constants?).
I now want to work through the Contacts in Outlook patching in...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
