2 questions about response.binary write

hey all,
first question: shouldn't response.binary write be able to take my word doc
that's stored in a binary field in my database and open it in word within the
my browser?

second question: when i use response.binary write on a pdf it opens the pdf
in a seperate window is there a way to keep it within the initial browser
like most pages do?

thanks,
rodchar

Question: I get the eror listed at the bottom of the post. What can I do to make the response of the x1.send a "binary" type? Or, in general, how can I just "make this work"? <%@ Language=VBScript %> <% Response.Buffer = TRUE Response.ContentType = "image/jpg"

I've got an aspx-Page "SendFile.aspx" which is called by a Link on "ShowListOfFiles.aspx" and sends the file in the OnLoad Eventhandler. The filename to download is stored in a Session variable. I'm sending the file to the client in 4 KB chunks. Sending the file works fine, but when I click a link on the calling aspx-Page ("ShowListOfFiles.aspx") after the download completed, the browser window shows fragments of the recently transmitted...

Hello, I am trying desperately how to find out if the bytes sent in a Response.BinaryWrite (or bytes written to Response.OutputStream) are ACTUALLY sent to the client. My problem is that I have files I would like to send to client only one time, so I need to check to see that all the bytes were actually sent to the client. As far as I can tell, there seems to be no way of checking to see if the bytes were sent. If I run a test and...

Hi, I made a posting a while ago regarding doing a binarywrite of a large file in chunks and got a lot of helpful responses. I was able to make it work then. Unfortunately when the project is being tested its not working and I am getting some weird results when testing. A month ago I was able to stream a file of size 80Mb and it worked like a dream Yesterday it would not work on the same file, but would stream smaller files. The...

Hi, I really need you help because I'm not very familliar with ASP and I could not find any solution to my problem. To put you in situation, I have a CGI to which I send a file name, and that script return me that file. But for security reason, I don't want to publish the address of this CGI, so I encapsulated it in an ASP file. This way, only this ASP file knows where the CGI is.

Hi gang, Have a script that works fine. However, it's really cpu intensive and I'm looking for suggestions on a) whether or not that's normal and if so b)a better way of doing it. Script is very simple, there is a folder of files with numeric names. The real file name is stored in the database. User clicks on link that executes script and provides database record id. Record is looked up, file name is found, and browser is delivered...

Kindly indicate the maximum size of the file that can be downloaded using this method. I am hosting this site on a public server, so I will not be able to change anything on the webserver. Kindly indicate what can be done to ensure that the above method remains valid for any file size download. call...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
