Frankly, i need session variables to persist regardless of load balancing.
My hoster says save them in files, yuk. Are there any other thoughts
The problem is that the session variables are lost when the load is switched
to another server. Also, i am locked out, because there is now a cookie on
my PC that will not expire until the timeout has expired?

Hi,
We use a load balancer for one of our web app. The application allows users
to upload files/images, which gets uploaded to the server the user is
connected to. My quesiton is how to synchronize the uploaded files between 2
web servers? What is the common practice when using a load balancer to share
the resources, especially images that are hard to be read from a UNC. Any
tips are greatly appreciated. TIA.

We have service oriented architecture
that comprises of a number of Win2k/IIS boxes.
Some of these web service applications access an AS400
system for data acess (We are using HitSoftware's Ritmo .net
native driver). For fail over we route these requests
through a hardware based load balancer (BigIP).
The BigIP allows us to fail over to a secondary AS400 system
in case the primary one fails.

I am trying to implement Load Balancing but facing some problems:
A Web farm usually consists of 2 or more computers, orchestrated by
some form of load balancing. Consider my scenario:
1. I have an Intranet site say www.intranet.com
2. I arrive at a load balancing machine
3. This machine redirectes me to the machine WebServer01 (contents from
www.01.intranet.com are shown)

I have a website developed in .Net 1.1 and is running on three servers
under a load balancer. I want to add another server to the load
balancer which will have the same application but converted to 2.0. My
app does not store anything in the session, but is dependent on
Viewstate and cookies.
My doubt is that whether Viewstate generated by 1.1 can be understood
by 2.0 and vice versa.

Hi All,
We've been using Request.IsSecureConnection for some time to drop in
and out of SSL for various sections of our web application. We have
recently change server architecture though as we now accept all
requests to our FreeBSD Apache cluster which then proxies the requests
to the Windows Server.
As the proxy request is done over plaintext HTTP the
Request.IsSecureConnection no longer works correctly.

I am trying to configure a load balancer environment with mod_jk and tomcat workers.
I have 2 applications app1 deployed on a set of servers, and app2 deployed on another set of servers.
Can I use a single load balancer to balance load among two types of application??
ie all request to app1 should go to servers where app1 is deployed and requests to app 2 should go to set of servers where app 2 is deployed.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
