Hello all.
Is there a convenient scheme within a C extension to add
methods to a type in such a way as to allow me to
transparently add a "proxy" around them? For example:
typedef PyObject* (*PyMethodCall)(PyObject*, PyObject*);
PyObject* middleMan(PyObject* self, PyObject* args) {
printf("Before call to wrapped funct\n");

Is there any way to have a custom server control for all aspx pages which
runs code before the page_load event? I need some code to be run before the
page_load since it's supposed to change some Page properties, something like
an include file in the old classic asp days...

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out, on my windows form, of what is the best way to add
various custom controls at various times during run-time. The problem is
that they will need to be in the same spot as each other, depending on what
is being called at that particular time by the user. I have been trying to
use Inherited user controls, but I am not able, and/or don't know how to
retrieve the data from my Inherited user control. If...

I have an odd business requirement and I think that the implementation
is not correct in the terms of OOP development. Any help on the
concepts would be very appreciated!
We currently have a custom Page object which is derived from the base
Page object. We also have custom controls that derive from a base
class that performs custom drawing and inherits from our own
IOurControl interface. There is also a special caching layer in the
mix...

I am coding an application in VB.Net 2005 where objects of a custom class are saved/retrieved into/out of a DB. As my application moves into its 2nd version I have to add new methods and properties into my custom class.
How does one go about adding new methods and/or properties to a custom class and then updating existing objects of that class w/out breaking everything?
Ex: Pull existing object from DB -> Convert to new version of...

I have a DataGridView bound to a collection of Custom Objects. I have
enabled adding new rows, but since my object does not have a public
constructor (it uses a factory method), I get an error when I attempt to
enter the new row. My guess is that I need to override some method so that I
can create the object for the grid. But for the life of me, and I can't find
it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I am looking for an application that will wrap my .Net application (and any
needed .Net parts) into a single exe.
I know of Thinstall ($4,000 for application and per copy fees for your exes)
and of Xenocode (~$1,500 plus ~ $12 per copy of your exe). But, I'd like
something that is actually affordable for a hobbyist programmer.
This capability (Thinstall's being able to wrap a .Net app and ship it as a
single exe) would be a FANTASTIC...

Hi,
I need to create and add custom headers to an ASP.NET 2.0 application.
The case is simulation of an SSO-login in our dev/test environment.
When I try to add headers I run into the "Not supported on this platform."
error. BigJim has a nice post on the subject here:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
