web app project errors after installing sp1

On winXP with VSTE for software developers installed,
I downloaded and installed vs2005 sp1

during the install i was informed that I had to uninstall the web
application project package
I did the uninstall of the wap and restarted the install
everything seemed to go fine with the sp install after that

however when I try to open an existing web application project or create a
new web application project i get the following error :

Package Load Failure

Package
'Microsoft.Visu alStudio.Web.Ap plication.WAPac kage,Microsoft. VisualStudio.We b.Application,V ersion=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral ,
PublicKeyToken= b03f5f7f11d50a3 a' has failed to load properly ( GUID =
{349C5850-65DF-11DA-9384-00065B846F21}.) Please contact package
vendor for assistance. ...

restarting the machine , reinstalling the sp has had no effect.

googling for this error has returned no results.
I don't see any uninstall for SP1 - so short of reinstalling windows and
VS - what do i do ?

I went to Add or Remove Programs, find Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Web
Application Projects.
Click on it, then click on "Change"
Choose Repair on the Popup Dialog.
Fixed this issue for me

Hi Steve,
I had to do a complete uninstall of WAP before the SP would install. It
doesn't appear in the Add/Remove applictaion list - did you reinstall the
older pre-SP1 WAP package?
I am just waiting for a chance to do a complete os reinstall assuming that
that will fix things up.

I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its properties. * This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

Just installed VS2003 and tried a hello world app. Getting 404 error even when I explictly specify the start page in the url. I compared its properties to new apps generated by VS2003 and only difference I see is that the new apps have the "Local Path" box in the...

This is a repost of an issue that I did not get any responses on, so I thought I'd try it again. I just installed VS.Net 2003 Ent. Arch. on a machine with Windows XP Pro. The installation went without any errors. When I attempt to create a new project (either VB or C#), a messagebox pops up saying that there was a NullReferenceException and the form designer has a big red cross (red X) through it. This also happens if I just add a...

After installing Visual Studio 2005 I find that any program with an .aspx extension is automatically included in the project. This creates many compile errors because some of these .aspx programs are prototype programs and are not meant to be compiled. If I exclude the program it changes the extension to '.exclude.' Is there any way to exclude a program from the project without changing the extension to '.exclude'? Or can I make it keep...
