What I do now is I put a value in the tag property, and using the
form_current event, I run through all controls properties until the ones
with the required tag value are met. Sound OK in theory, but it is ...
slow.
I thought having a table with the name, type of controls and put my 'tag
value' there. At the opening of the form, I would retrieve a recordset from
the table, and perform a subroutine on the current event to lock/unlock...

I have a page that takes about 10 seconds to load the first time it is run.
I would like to first display a little animated gif telling the user that
the page is loading.
How do I do this with .NET?
I used to create a loading layer at the top of the page. Flush the layer to
the buffer.

I've been bothered for some time about my DataGrid not populating my rows
very quickly. I have about 10K rows loading into the grid.
I create a datatable dt with 2 columns, an ID and a display. The ID is a
member of the keys array.
I then create a DataView dv over the table, and sort it by Display and ID
column (in case of duplicate Display).
I then set my DataGrid.DataSource = dv;
I then load the datatable with my rows, and this is...

Hi all,
I'm having a little problem understanding the concepts of dynamically
loading/unloading user conrols:
1. If I have a couple of usercontrols embedded within a few tables cells on
my page, setting the usercontrol's visible to false still fires the
Page_Load event. Isn't this unnecessary overhead when it doesn't even show
in my page.

Hi,
I want to display a Label in a DataGrid according to some condition. I therefore check whether the condition is true in the ItemDateBound EventHandler of the DataGrid. Unfortunately the conversion is extremely costly in performance. Does anybody know how I could set the label (of the whole content of the TableCell) to .Visible = False without converting e.Item.Controls(2) to a System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label?

Hello,
I have a page with a RadioButtonList and a PlaceHolder control. The
RadioButtonList's AutoPostBack attribute is set to TRUE and its
SelectedIndexChanged event loads one of three UserControls into the
PlaceHolder's child control collection depending upon which of the three
radio buttons is selected. Each of the three UserControls have postback
events themselves triggered by button clicks. The problem I'm having is
keeping track of...

I am brand new to ASP.NET and am now required to take over maintenance of a
..NET/C# web application. On one of the pages I'm working on there is a
DataGrid which has multiple columns. One of the columns is not databound and
instead has up to three hyperlinks in it (Edit, Award, and Cancel). A couple
of the hyperlinks should not be shown in certain cases. Now, mind you, I
don't know if it's being done in the way that's best to do it. It...

Hi,
I am creating textbox, radiobuttonlist and checkboxlist dynamically
depending on data from a table. It is a questionnaire.
I add the control on a Panel control during the 1st load_page event.
Each question is displayed and answered, then result written to a SQL table.
Then the next question is read from a table and displayed using the
load_page event again.
The questions display and function perfectly. The user anwers the question...

I'm using a master page (mp_TableMaint.aspx) with one Content area (ID:
Content1). Content1 contains several usercontrols, which are hidden. The
goal is to show the correct control based on the querystring passed when
calling mp_TableMaint (the page is called from an ASP.NET 2.0 Menu control
on my index.aspx page). I believe I understand correctly that the Master
Page's ASP Content control (named Content1) is, itself, a server side...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
