Have you tried double-clicking the downloaded file ?

You should really get a grip of yourself before ranting here.

yes of course i did

now, if you can assume for a moment that I am not an idiot and that I am
asking a legitimate question, can you think, think, think of the answer to
my question?

re:

The way you phrased your question is unclear.

Is your problem that you don't remember where you placed
the downloaded file, or that you don't know where it installed itself
( after you started the msi package ) ?

1. You should remember where you saved the msi file.

2. The Time Tracker package default installation path is :
BootDrive:\Prog ram Files\ASP.NET Starter Kits\ASP.NET TimeTracker (VBSDK)\

If yoiu didn't change the path when you ran the msi file, that's where it's found.

Btw, it says where it installs itself during setup.
It's odd that you don't remember that.

Hi,

Also, I am confused by the continuous use of WTF in Mr Fingers' posts. I
am aware of WPF, WCF and WF, but not WTF ;-)

See, there's the trouble. You're:

a) asking about starter kits. (which are targeted at beginners)
b) whining. (which kids often do when frustrated by stuff they don't
understand)
c) expecting MS to hold your hand. (which an experienced dev probably
wouldn't need)

So yeah, my first impression was that you don't know what you're doing.
if you hope
to make it far on the Usenet, you should probably work on you question
presentation
skill. There are plenty of articles out there you can read about how
to ask for help
in an online forum. You should definitely read one of them before
continuing your
tantrum here.

NO,

After installing the starter kit, i open VS2005, and try to install
templates.

the new template is not listed.

now what do i do?

jeez.
Dec 14 '06 #7
Find a program that installs templates ?

AFAIK, the Time Tracker Starter Kit doesn't install any templates.

The MasterPage.mast er page for this starter kit is a presentation template
that can then be used by any content page contained in the application.

You can use it as a template for any page you add to the app,
by declaring an @ Master page directive.

Read the "Introducti on to the Time Tracker Starter Kit" :
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms972955.aspx

And, please, try not to look like a fool who asks questions without having
made at least a minimal effort to understand what you're asking about.

Your "CLOWN-HOLES" post is no credit to you.

I'm looking at the docs in VS2005 regarding starter kits and I noticed that the starter kits to download from the site are in vsi files (compressed), all except the shareware starter kit. MS docs says that templates should be in compressed files. The Shareware starter kit is in msi file so when you install it you get a solution that includes some other projects, but it does not appear in the templates when you want to start a new project....

Microsoft has released the final version of the ASP.NET Issue Tracker Starter Kit. The Issue Tracker Starter Kit is a free application produced by Microsoft which illustrates best-practices when building ASP.NET 1.1 applications. Both VB.NET and C# source code is available for download. The Issue Tracker works with both Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access. You can download the Issue Tracker Starter Kit (including all source code)...

Hi I know it may be a little early in the proceedings, and ASP.NET 2.0 is not yet released, but does anyone know if there are any ASP>NET 2.0 versions of the Starter kits that were released with ASP.NET 1.0? I would just like to get a feel for how things should be done, as I'm going to install the next Beta when its released.

Hi all: If you think that the following comments are absolute amateurish, then please bear with me, or simply skip this thread. A couple of months back I made the decision to initiate a gradual upgrade of my web programming skills from Classic ASP / VBS to ASP.NET / VB.NET. While the study of the language differences and all the new features in .NET has so far not been a traumatic experience, I am a bit shell-schocked after

I have been studying the Time Tracker Starter Kit for ASP.NET 2.0 and I think is a really interesting sample application but I wonder if the design is appropriate for middle size and enterprise size applications. I am developing an application that will run on the internet and that will be use by approximately 300 employees concurrently. Do you think that the design in the Time Tracker Starter Kit will be adequate for my application in...

I am having a problem installing the starter kits. I have reinstalled VS 2005, think that might be the problem. I then installed both 'Personal Website" and the "Club Website" starter kits. I still have the same problem. Any web starter kit that is installed under 'My Templates" does not allow you to enter the location directory or use the browse button. Neither the "Personal Website" or the "Club Website" allows you to select the...

Hi, Yes, I'm one of the lonely ones who hasn't upgraded to VS2005.NET. Does anyone know where in MSDN, the code for the Starter-Kits for VS2003.NET? It seems like MSDN is very nicely ignoring VS2003.NET and the old .NET 1.1 framework. Thanks Ahead, Allan

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
