Automatically inserting method & function headers from an interface that are being implemented with VB.NET

When implementing an interface in VB.NET using Visual Studio .NET 2005, it
would be nice if I could have the method/function headers inserted
automatically. Whenever we implement an event (such as Button.Click,
TextBox.TextCha nged, etc.), all we have to do is select the control and
event from the dropdownlists at the top of the editor. Obviously the
interfaces (IPostBackDataH andler, ICallbackEventH andler, etc.) are not
listed there, but because some of the interfaces are used rather often and
the headers must match the ones defined in the interfaces, I would think
Visual Studio .NET 2005 would have a way to insert them. Is there a way to
do this? If so, what is it? Thanks.

Check the code snippets and see if there are any to do what
you are talking about. If not, you can create your own using
the Code Snippet editor.

To see the code snippets, type ? and hit <Tabin the code
editor. YOu will get a menu showing a list of types of
snippets -- just drill down and see if you find one you like.
If you do, just select it and the code snippet will be
inserted.

Note that if you select with the up/down arrows, or hold
your mouse over the description of the actual snippet,
it shows a "shortcut". If you type this shortcut into
the code editor and hit <Tab>, it will insert the code
for you. For example, property is the shortcut for a
property.

Here's the link to a code snippet editor you
can use to create your own snippets. You can export
them and make them available to other developers
if you wish.

Good luck.

Hi, Given a collection of similar but not exact entities (or products) Toyota, Ford, Buick, etc; I am contemplating using the Abstraction pattern to provide a common interface to these products. So I shall have an Abstract Base called 'Car' implemented by Toyota, Ford, and Buick. Further I'd like to enable to client to say Car *factory;

I'm on a team building some class libraries to be used by many other projects. Some members of our team insist that "All public methods should be virtual" just in case "anything needs to be changed". This is very much against my instincts. Can anyone offer some solid design guidelines for me? Thanks in advance....

What follows is a discussion of my experience with .NET generics & the ..NET framework (as implemented in the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1), which leads to questions as to why certain things are the way they are. ***** Summary & Questions ***** In a nutshell, the current .NET generics & .NET framework make it sometimes difficult or even impossible to write truly generic code. For example, it seems to be impossible to write a truly generic

Introduction Usability and relevance have been identified as the major factors preventing mass adoption of Business Intelligence applications. What we have today are traditional BI tools that don't work nearly as well as they should, even for analysts and power users. The reason they haven't reached the masses is because most of the tools are so difficult to use and reveal so little

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
