Login Controls - Force user to change password at next login

pj
I'm using asp.net 2.0 login controls, When a user forgets a password,
they are sent an email with the new password. Two questions....

1) how do I format the password that is being created to be only
letters and numbers? Not something like "e%QtT6.Eja%XNG "

2) how do I redirect users to a change password page, next time they
login with the new password sent to them via email?

thanks is advance for any assitance,

Check if the following link helps you out -

http://www.123aspx.com/redir.aspx?res=34519

Most of the changes can be done in the Web.Config file itself.

Thanks,

OK, I can follow that article, but still:

2) how do I redirect users to a change password page, next time they
login with the new password sent to them via email?

I'm looking for a way to force the user to re-authenticate with their Windows username/password/domain after clicking the submit button on an ASP.NET page. This is for an internal application. Does anyone know if/how this can be done?

I've searched google intensely on this topic and it seems noone really knows how to approch this. The goal I don't want clients to give out their usernames and passwords to friends, since the site relies on subscrption fees. Sessions ID's are matched between the browser and the server. So a users can login with same username and password and those sessions are tracked individually. Some suggest create table fields with the session ID...

I have a login control which I want to have loaded my demo user name and the demo password. Naturally the demo password doesnt have to show as text literal but best I can tell I cant set the password programmically. I could hide the password however I would still need to "login" this demo user with a password so either I need to find away to set the password in the textbox or login the demo user programmically. Thanks!

To confirm that the e-mail supplied in the new user wizard is correct, I would like to a) change the new user template not to contain password. b) I would like to send system generated password to the user asking them to change it on the next login attempt. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? (I suppose working with login controls) Thanks in advance

Hi there, I'm looking for a secure login script for a sort-of-community site... (PHP, MySQL, sessions, or maybe something else ... ) I know there are a lot of scripts out there, but none of them really seem secure, or have other kind of flaws (like IP based login etc.). Why i'm asking here, is because there's experience out there, and i hope experience can tell me what my best shot is. I'm aware that i will very probably have to do...

Hi. I have an ASP.NET application written in C#. To log in, a user must provide their email address and password. I already give the user a "Remember my Email Address" check box. If they check it when logging in, I store the email address in a cookie and automatically display the address when they login again. I now want to give the user a "Remember my Password" checkbox. If they check this new checkbox, I'm planning on encrypting...

Hello, I'm using a Login Control on asp.net 2.0 website and it works fine on IE & Firefox, however I have recently added a javscript function to listen for a 'return-key-click' and am encountering problems with Firefox. If the user clicks the 'Login' button with a mouse button click, it works fine, however if the user hits enter, the form fields are cleared and the user is not logged in. Please note, this only happens if the user has...

okay...so I got this login script and I edited it all and it seems to run fine...IE it listens to the script as far as permissions go when I place a restriction on a page and when you login it redirects. But first it doesn't tell you that you're logged in and doesn't provide a logout feature. And most importantly if I type in a random username and password not listed in the database it doesn't seem to matter it still "lets me login"

I run a Joomla website and am familiar with php in some but not all aspects. Currently I am trying to find some solutions related to session handling. Am I correct in saying that "login" is kept in sessions? I can see active sessions in my mysql database, but is that the only place this information is stored? Sessions and cookies I know are related also, but how specifically (session info stored in cookies?)? Right now, when users...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
