Back when computer dinosaurs roamed the earth and the precursors to
today's Internet were tiny flocks of TDMs living symbiotically with
the silicon giants, tracking access to data processing resources was
much simpler: you logged in with a userID and password, and when
you were done you ended your session by logging out (or occasionally
by being disconnected). Connection time was easy to measure, and it
made sense to both the customer...

Hello,
I'm running an ASPX application "WebApplication1" which
consumes a web service (service1.asmx) hosted on a machine
with IP (128.1.7.x) . The web service is located in the
intranet.
The web methods can be invoked successfully
if "WebApplication1" is located in machines with the same

Hey,
I've been asked to look into network security where an IIS virtual directory
is configure to not have anonymous access, but rather to go with the windows
authentication (what the user signs in as at client). This is in the context
of a ASP.Net web service running on an intranet.
- I've ticked and unticked all the right boxes in IIS.

I am trying to control a Windows Service via a Web Service interface.
(I am developing in .NET2003) I am using the ServiceController object
which allows me to read the state of the services with no problems.
However, I am not able to start or stop the service unless I go
through the process of impersonating an administrative user. (See
MSDN KB 306158)
Since it appears to be a privilege issue, I set the folders in IIS
holding the Web...

Work at a large site - 1000+ PC's. Mixture of Win98 & WinXP. Majority of
applications using Access 97.
If I compile the Acc97 application on a Win98 PC, the .mde will run
perfectly on both Win98 and WinXP PC's. However, if I compile on a WinXP
PC, the application doesn't run correctly on Win98 PC's.
While I guess a Windows issue, does anyone know the offending files and even
better, how to resolve it ? Otherwise I need to...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
