Hello,
I am having a difficult time updating a record via a stored procedure using
the gridview and sqldatasource. I cannot seem to be able to find a way to set
everything up so that I can pass the applicable fields in the gridview to a
sqldatasource which in turn calls a sproc with the appropriate parameters and
data. Any ideas?

I've chosen to implement the "optimistic concurrency" model in my
application. To assist in that, I've added a ROWVERSION (TIMESTAMP) column to
my main tables. I read the value of the column in my select, remember it, and
then use it in the update. It works just fine when I have full control of the
whole process.

i have a web-form with a GridView control, i wanted to update & delete,
using the AutoGenerateEditButton.
when i used it with sqlDataSource (executing SP in the DB) it works
like a charm, but when i want to pass the data through the
application's layers (BL etc.), it did not work.
it seems that the 'AutoGenerateEditButton' is capable only with
sqlDataSource...

Hi,
I'm using a detailsview control with an SqlDataSource control. My
Update query isn't working, and I've narrowed it down to the optimistic
concurrency parameters - i.e. when I comment them out of the query, it
works. What seems to be happening is that if a field is NULL when it
is read in through the select statement, it's causing the update
statment not to find a match. I've got ConvertEmptyStringToNull not

Hey all,
So.. a simple FormView/SqlDataSource to handle inserting records into a
table. The table has a primary key that the user enters (eg DiscountCode).
If the user enters a duplicate the database complains about a primary key
violation (which is what I want) and an exception is thrown. The OnInserted
event of the SqlDataSource provides access to the exception so, presumably,
you can provide nice handling for various errors.
