Dear all,
this error handling has been a pain since so manya days
using ASP 3.0 with IIS 5.0 on W2K server Created a custom error page
using the Server.GetLastError() and works fine in most of the cases.
Following are the issues :
1. Have a hughe file (5-6 mb approx) to upload, now if there are any
errors during upload i want to immediately throw an error and roll back
the transaction.

Hi,
I am writing a simulation package in C++, and so far I've written about
8000 lines of code and have about 30 classes. I haven't used C++
exceptions so far (for various reasons). The only two "resources" I use
are memory and file I/O and whenever there is a memory allocation
failure or file I/O failure I just simply call a custom assert-type
function to check, print a error message and abort. This seems to be OK
for now (for the...

Hi,
Considering the scenario for handling exceptions in Web Application where we have Presentation layer, Business layer and Data Access layer; if there any exception is occurred in DAL, what is the best thing to do:
1. Dont catch the exception in DAL and let it prop up to the Application level and the Global.Application_Error event log it to any source and show let ASP.NET show custom error page provided in Web.Config file.
OR

I need help in implementing proper error handling.
I am trying to upload a file based on the sample code below. The code works
well except if the file selected is too big.
I do know about the maxRequestLength parameter of the <httpRuntime> section
and that works as expected. What I want is to enforce a max file size but
haven't been able to trap the error thrown when the file is too large and
that's where I could use some help.

I have written a custom dll that I put inside the /bin directory of a
production IIS server. Inside the config file of the web application i have
added the following setting:
<httpModules>
<add name="ExceptionManagerHTTPModule"
type="Digiscribe.HTTPModule.ExceptionManagerHTTPModule, HTTPModule" />
</httpModules>
In this dll I have inherited from the IHttpModule which in turn has given me

Hi
I'm currently designing a new web application in .Net. I've pretty covered everything, apart from error handling.
There seems to be a few different way to do this, but something I've read often is that loading all your code with lots of try / catch blocks is not the best way.
My application is made up of a number of different sub applications. A CRM Package, with financial services, compliance and commisions etc etc.
Each part has...

I'm testing error handling configurations and having some trouble. I created
a WebForm called. ErrDefault.aspx and I am trying to use the Page error
attribute to force the redirection to a custom page, but I only get and
unhandled exception page and it does not direct me to my specific page. I'm
probably doing something really stupid, but I cant see what .
Any Ideas ? - Thanx Mr N

This has been driving me crazy.
I have been trying to get the error handling working on my system and can
get parts of it working and others won't work at all.
I found that you can't access session variables from Application_Error
event, but I need to so I don't need to set up traces to see what they are
during an error. I am emailing the error condition to myself when it
happens.

Best I can tell, there are three basic ways you can deal with global
error handling in ASP.NET. Namely:
1. Derive all your pages from a custom Page class, and override
OnError()
2. Specify a custom 500 handler in Web.Config
3. Specify a custom 500 handler in IIS

Hi,
I've created an n-tier app where validation rules reside in the
business layer. When a webform is saved, a business object examines
its state, and if some property is invalid, throws a custom exception
(ValidationException)
The exception bubbles up to the UI where it gets trapped:
Private Sub Page_Error(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
