System.Net.Mail SMTP Pickup Dir

Hi,
I am trying to write .eml files to a remote UNC directory - do you
know if this could be done, such as:

<mailSettings >
<smtp>
<network

host="localhost "
port="25"
/>

<specifiedPicku pDirectory pickupDirectory Location="\\ser ver1\Pickup"/>
</smtp>
</mailSettings>

If so, would I have to change the defaultCredenti als or the security
context for ASP.NET (using machine.config) ? I haven't exactly done
that before.
Thank you,
Michael

FYI: I found the answer in case anyone wonders about this. Make sure
the AppPool for the IIS web site is running as IWAM_machinenam e and
that the \Pickup windows share allows IWAM_machinenam e (using same
username/password on remote machine) write access in addition to the
NTFS write for that subdirectory is allowed.

Here's the scenario. I'm currently using cdosys/asp to send mail to our SMTP server. We use a product called MailFilter to check for SPAM. It doesn't work very well. If MailFilter isn't working cdosys also has problems and emails don't get sent. As these email are confirmations for customer's bookings this means lots of customers calling to see where their confirmation emails have gone. The root of the problem is MailFilter but that here...

I am trying to send SMTP mail: I have the following code which works fine on one domain, but not on other. It does not work until I remove the Message-ID: line, than it works just fine. Here's how I removed the Message-ID line: I stopped the SMTP service (so I could edit the mail file in the Pickup directory), ran the program to send the email, than I edited the file in the Pickup directory and removed the Message-ID line from the...

I am using MailMessage (CDOSYS) to send emails. I would like to turn off the SMTP service (it's on the local machine) and look at the emails in the pickup folder before they get sent out. However, since it is connecting using the port, I will get an error if I turn off the SMTP service. I need to configure it so that it writes the emails to the pickup folder. I've done quite a bit of digging, and found some references to...

I've having a very boggling problem and I hope someone can help shed some light on it. I have and Email dll for my solution. Inside the solution two projects use the dll. An asp.net application and a c# console application. When the dll runs in the asp.net project it sends emails no problem. In fact I can stop the SMTP server and let the emails pile up in the pickup folder. Its' great, I can delete them at will, turn it on and watch...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
