I have two(2) issues.
I'm experiencing a little difficulty and having to resort to a work around.
I already found one bug, although stated the bug was only in ODBC, which I'm
not using. It appears to be in the OLEDB driver also.
My connection was:
conn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & strPath & ";" &
"Extended Properties='Text;HDR=NO;FMT=Delimited'"

I've run into a problem using this method that I have
been able to work around, but I think that there is a
more elegant way.
I create an array of 256 bytes and use the
SHBrowseForFolders API to retrieve a folder path into the
array. When I use the GetString method, the length of
the returned string is always 256, even if the actual
path length is only 10.

Hi,
I am using a function to hash a string value:
public string generateMD5Hash(string input)
{
MD5 md5Provider; // MD5 provider instance
// generate byte code for input
byte inputData = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(input);

Hi,
I am reading a mp3 file's last 128 bytes and putting the text into
string variables.
What is happening is that the string is being stored with, probably
some wrong encoding or character, and hence has a " in front, and i
cant see the full string in VB 2005 express's debug mode. I have based
this off an example from the web.
I have spent a full day trying to debug this with a lot of different
ways, and now am exausted with ideas.

I'm converting an asp.net 1.1 app to 2.0 and am having difficulty
determining why ASCIIEncoding.GetString returns a different value in
..NET 2.0 than 1.1. The code is simple but I can't locate the problem.
If someone could point out my oversight, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Subject: How to build a procedure that returns different
numbers of columns as a result based on a parameter.
You can copy/paste this whole post in SQL Query Analyzer
or Management Studio and run it once you've made sure
there is no harmful code.
Currently we have several stored procedures which final
result is a select with several joins that returns many

Hi,
Newbie question about SqlDataReader column value access...
In java jdbc code to get a value from a table column we can pass the column
name (instead of an int index or offset):
String strLastName = rs.getString( "LastName" );

What is a good programming style in C to handle multiple returns in a
function that returns different values?
- To have a variable that is set to the return value, which is in the
end of the function returned?
- To have multiple returns with different values?
Which to prefer, and is there a better way?

When I use the following code I get "???" in place of the non-Ascii
character. Is there any way to fix the conversion or do I have to write a
function to search for "???" and replace with another character?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
