On one of my localhost sites I'm getting a message to run aspnet_regiis -c to
correct some scripting issues.
When I try to run the listed command I get another error:
"You must have administrative rights on this machine in order to run this
tool."
I have verified that I have administrative rights on the box as my normal
login. I have also logged in as the local administrator, tried the same thing
and get the same message.

I plan to install multiple Web applications installed on a single Web
server. Should I create each Web site in its own Application pool?
I'd appreciate any recommendations, guidelines or links to articles.

When you run 'aspnet_regiis -c', the aspnet_client directory is created
under EVERY web site on the IIS server. It seems strange that there
doesn't seem to be any way of running the command so that it only
installs the aspnet_client directory under a specified web site or even
just the .net web sites on the server. I'm running several production
IIS servers that have got a mix of .net and non-.net web sites on them
and I don't want the...

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to do what appears to be
really straight forward. I've been attempting the Walkthrough: Creating and
Exporting an RSA Key Container
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2w117ede.aspx). Steps 1-3 work
fine but step 4 fails every time:
1. Create new machine-level RSA key container works just fine
(aspnet_regiis -pc "MyKeys" -exp)
2. Grant Read Access to an RSA Encryption Key works...

I'm getting the "Failed to access IIS metabase" error so I tried to run the
aspnet_regiis utility to set the permissions (aspnet_regiis -ga username).
However, when I run this command all it does is display the list of command
options. I'm running on WinXp SP2. I tried to run aspnet_regiis -t but I
get the same page of command options.
Anyone know what's happening?

I have an application developed using Visual Studio 2005, I precompiled
and deployed it on the server but I am getting errors for assemblies'
compilation. There is a solution available all over that using IIS 6.0
and seperate pools for different applications running on different
frameworks can solve the issue but I have this only single application.
However, I must bring to your notice that I had converted my
applciation from VS 2003 to...

Folks,
I'm using .NET 2.0 and have created a web service that runs in it's own app
pool with a domain accout for the identity. It appears that running
aspnet_regiis with the - ga option is not enough. I had to grant read access
to the domain account to the c:\windows\temp directory in order add the web
references for my client. Am I wrong in assuming that aspnet_regiis -ga is
all you have to do? All the documentation that I've read has...

Hello All,
IIS 6.0 - I have an application which resides in its own application pool.
Does anyone know if we can create multiple application pools for the same
application?
If we can create multiple application pools to serve a single application's
request will it improve the performance?
Thanks for your suggestions!!

Hi,
I have some questions concerning thread pools. I've marked the
questions by number in the text.
First I'd like to know when which thread pools an application uses. I
know ASP.NET uses the CLR common thread pool. (1a) Is there a way
around this? (1b) Can ASP.NET application have it's own pool? Is there
a setting in IIS for this? (2) If ASP:NET application uses the CLR
common pool is this also true for Web Services running on the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
