I have a program that uses the filesystemwatcher.
Problem is that i have to wait until the file is closed before i can do
someting with it in the changed event.
How can i detect if the foreighn application has finished writing and has
closed the file ?

I am creating a website updater program. Currently working on the image
replacement module here.
For some reason, after an image (say /images/1.jpg) has been
used/opened in the application. I cannot later overwrite it (during the
application), even after i have closed it.

Hi All,
I am working on the situation where 2 different
Process/Application(.net) tries to open file at the same time....Or one
process is updating the file and another process tries to access it,
it throws an exception.
How to solave this problem? So second process can wait until first
process completes its processing on the file.

Hi,
I am re-writing part of my application using C#. This application starts
another process which execute a "legacy" program. This legacy program writes
to a log file and before it ends, it writes a specific string to the log file.
My original program (MKS Toolkit shell program) which keeps running "grep"
checking the "exit string" on the "log files". There are no file sharing
problem.

In my C# program, when I try to delete a file, I get an exception that
the file is locked by another process. I would like to terminate the
process that locks the file.
How can I determine what process has a lock on a file, just based on

I have a db table that holds a list of ports. There is a column
in_use that is used as a flag for whether the port is currently in
use. When choosing a port the table is read and the first available
port with in_use = 0 is used, updated to in_use = 1, used, then
updated to in_use = 0. I am using MySQLdb and want to make sure I am
locking the table when doing reads, writes, updates since there will

I am receiving a "file is being used by another process" error message
whenever I try to access a text file that I had previously created and then
closed. This only happens when I test in a Windows VISTA environment but I
do not get this error when testing in a Windows XP environment on another
computer. I close the file and even use the Dispose command to make sure all
resources are released. Is this a problem with VISTA or my computer...
