File is locked by a process/program

Hello again
I run a script from server side that opens a file.
When ahoter user run the same application, the system fails because this
file is alredy open.
How can avoid this error?
"This files is already open, try again" or another message error intead?

Thanks

Hard to say without seeing how you handle the file. Make sure that
streams are closed after you're done with the file. Also, if you use the
Bitmap class to load an image, I found out that you must absolutely use
the Dispose method when you're finished, or else the image file remains
open.

Hi, I am re-writing part of my application using C#. This application starts another process which execute a "legacy" program. This legacy program writes to a log file and before it ends, it writes a specific string to the log file. My original program (MKS Toolkit shell program) which keeps running "grep" checking the "exit string" on the "log files". There are no file sharing problem.

Hello, This is probably a newbie question. In my C# program, when I try to delete a file, I get an exception that the file is locked by another process. I would like to terminate the process that locks the file. How can I determine what process has a lock on a file, just based on the file path? If you have an example in .NET, that would be super, but

I searched using Google, on the web and in the newsgroups, and found nothing on this topic. Hopefully that means I just don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing here. :) The problem: I am trying to use the SaveFileDialog class to get a filename, which is subsequently opened for writing (write access, read sharing, but using read/write sharing doesn't make the problem go away anyway). Sometimes, on the statement where I...

I have a db table that holds a list of ports. There is a column in_use that is used as a flag for whether the port is currently in use. When choosing a port the table is read and the first available port with in_use = 0 is used, updated to in_use = 1, used, then updated to in_use = 0. I am using MySQLdb and want to make sure I am locking the table when doing reads, writes, updates since there will be several instances of my program...

I am receiving a "file is being used by another process" error message whenever I try to access a text file that I had previously created and then closed. This only happens when I test in a Windows VISTA environment but I do not get this error when testing in a Windows XP environment on another computer. I close the file and even use the Dispose command to make sure all resources are released. Is this a problem with VISTA or my computer...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
