Visual Studio 2005 - cassini web server, wrong port number

I have an asp.net web application. Normally when i want to build and run it
I press CTRL + F5, this starts the cassini web server and opens a browser
window where the url is http://localhost:RandomPort the 'RandomPort' being
the same port number that the cassini web server is listening on.

However, as of today, when I CTRL + F5 the port number in the browser url is
always exactly 7 less than the one the cassini web server is using.

I am currently pulling my hair out at a progidious rate and would prefer a
solution whilst I still have some hair. I have tried setting 'use dynamic
ports' to false, but no matter what port number I choose I always get the
error message 'unable to launch visual studio's localhost web server, port
..... in use'

Red Herring : Coincidentally, today I have upgraded my McAfee anti virus

Any ideas please ??

Apols for the post here, but there is no public.inetserver.cassini Is there a way to configure the cassini / ASP NET Development web server: 1) So that the port can be pegged (seems to be random)? 2) So that can access the server using hostname other than localhost? I need to test some client side SOAP calls Thanks in advance

Hello all, Just wanted to get some clarification on something. I was setting out to create a login page for people to login and then be able to access certain aspects of the website. Instead of doing what I usually do which is store the username password in a db table then compare what the user enters from the text boxes to what's in the db, I thought I would try the login components from the toolbox.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
