User Control (ASCX) do not raise post back on ASP.NET 2

Hi,

I've an application written in ASP.NET 1.1 that uses lots of web user
controls (ascx) hosted on a single page (default.aspx) which programatically
loads and unloads these user controls.

In ASP.NET 1.1 all events postbacks where properly working, once the
application is moved ASP.NET 2.0 these events are not raised anymore!

I've taken the time to thru the whole application and migrate it properly to
ASP.NET 2.0, but still nothing!

Does anybody had experienced the same before?

Thanks,

Jose.

I have a user control being used instead of a frame page. when the user clicks on a menu item I need to send the ID (integer value) of that menu as a parameter in the postback of the user control which will be used to query sql server to repopulate the datagrid in the user control. I also wrapped the user control in a panel element so I could position it on the page. I'm clueless on how to get started with this.

I want to create a standard tool bar that appears on all pages that is a control. The toolbar has a button 'New'. What I wolud like when the user clicks on 'New' depends on the page they are on. I would like to do this by defining a NewFunc() that is different in each (code-behind) page which is called by the standard 'New' button in the toolbar. How can I get this to work? So far I have the following (which doesnt work). When the user...

I have a web form with a button and a placeholder, the button adds a user control to the placeholder (and removes any existing controls). The user control contains a single button. I have done all the usual stuff of recreating the usercontrol in the Page Init event. The 'failure' sequence is as follows: - select web form button to display the user control - select user control button, event fires - select web form button to display...

I have a user control, dropdown.ascx Inside dropdown.ascx, I have a dropdownlist control. From my page.aspx, I need to be able to access the dropdown's value. By setting it to auto-post back, I am able to grab this value using Request.Form. This worked well until I realized that I needed the initial value in some cases. How do I access this value from the page.aspx file?

I know Visual Studio lacked support on easily writing code to raise events from a ascx user control ( because you have to hand write them). (http://codebetter.com/blogs/brendan.tompkins/archive/2004/10/06/27795.aspx) Question: Is it better and easier now in ASPNET 2.0 , meaning VS 2005?

Consider the following user control which resides in Address.ascx: <script runat="server"> Public Property Address() As String Get Address = txtAddress.Text End Get Set(ByVal value As String) txtAddress.Text = value End Set

Assume that a user control (MyUC.ascx) encapsulates 2 TextBoxes with the IDs 'txt1' & 'txt2' respectively. To use this user control in an ASPX page, the following Register directive will be required: <%@ Register TagPrefix="UC" TagName="MyUserCtrl" Src="MyUC.ascx" %> Assuming that the ASPX page doesn't use a code-behind, I can access the properties, events etc. of the user control in the ASPX page in this way (assume that the ASPX page...

I have a problem that I have boiled down to a very simple example. I have a user control that displays a some data from a business object. On one screen I have a collection of these business objects and wish to display the user control multiple times. On this web page I simply bind the repeater to the data source and in the ItemDataBound event dynamically load the user control via "LoadControl()". The user control contains an auto post...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
