adding validation controls

I'm trying to work out how to do this. So far I keep getting errors
"Unable to find control ID..."

What I've got is a datefield control which draws a calendar popup and a
text field. I draw two of these date fields on a page by adding them to
the controls collection. The dates work fine however I want to add
validation to them to ensure the first date is less than the second
date but this isn't working. So far I'm doing this:

//creat objects
CompareValidato r objCompareDateV al = new CompareValidato r();
PUDateField objStartDateFie ld = new PUDateField("St artDate);
PUDateField objEndDateField = new PUDateField("En dDate);

//setup compare validator
objCompareDateV al.Operator = ValidationCompa reOperator.Less ThanEqual;
objCompareDateV al.ControlToVal idate = objStartDateFie ld.ID;
objCompareDateV al.ControlToCom pare = objEndDateField .ID;

//add the controls
this.Controls.A dd(objStartDate Field);
this.Controls.A dd(objEndDateFi eld);
this.Controls.A dd(objCompareDa teVal);

In the date field I also used:

[ValidationPrope rtyAttribute("V alue")]

public string Value
{
get
{
return this._objTextBo x.Value;
}
set
{
_objTextBox.Val ue = value;
}
}

I'm not sure If I'm doing this the right way. Can someone please point
me in the right direction on how I should accomplish what I'm trying to
do? Thanks

I want to know if ASP.NET Web Forms Validation Controls are Server-Side or Client-Side form validation? Since I think each validator control can select either 1) JavaScript based error dialog or 2) show the error message next to the control. For example, if the text field is empty with RequiredField Validator control, it can show the value in ControlToValidate property in two ways as I mentioned. Please advise. Thanks!

I have run into a major road block with my page development projects. I am trying to add a literal control to my asp.net page and I got an error stating that the control could not be added because of code blocks (<% %>) on the page. Most of these blocks can be handled by adding a label control to the form so it is not that big of deal, but one of the things being posted is the page title. I am not sure how I can access that from the code...

Dear All I have a Windows 2003 Server with IIS6 where the validation controls on ASP.Net pages no longer work. I believe it to be specific to the server as if I create an ASP.Net page on the IIS Server of my Workstation (Win XP) with a text box, button and required field validator, this works fine. If I create the same page on the IIS6 Windows 2003 Server the validation control doesn't stop the post. I've tried different browsers and...

Hi, I have a page with a repeater control that contains textboxes. I'm trying to create a validation class that is called by my page. A method in this class iterates through all the controls on the page. On encountering a TextBox control, it looks at the ID to discern the field the TextBox represents, and then creates the appropriate validation controls and adds them to the page. The controlToValidate property of each validation...

OK, I am running into some issues that I cant figure out a work-around. I am not going to post code cause I figured out WHY my issue is happening: -I have a datagrid, and a button that fires a click event. -The Datagrids onitemdatabound event dynamically creates validation controls per values from other columns in the datagrid, one of those controls is a textbox and it is the ControlToValidate of the validation control.

Source code attached indicates my problem with validation and a button bar save button. Fill the Textbox with some text then tab off the control. The message box will display the text in the textbox from the Validating event. Now put the focus back on the textbox click the button bar button. Nothing happens. The form causes validation is true, so is the button bar and the control.

Hi I have the following situation in one of my asp.net pages. The user can add multiple table rows to a form by selecting a button. These rows can contain asp.net controls. When this button is selected, the row is added using JavaScript. The script uses cloneNode to clone a hidden template row and all of its children and then adds the new row to the table, updates all of the child control Ids and sets visibility etc. The hidden...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
