Reading an excel spreadsheet using ado.net

I am trying to read and excel spreadsheet using ado.net in asp.net
2.0(vb.net). It seems to work fine, but I cannot read some cells. There are
some cells, that contain numbers, that I always just get a blank back. Has
anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks.

I will start off by giving you a background of the process I am taking. The nature of my DTS package is that I recieve an Excel Spreadsheet, run it through the DTS Package applying validation to the records, create an excel file that contians the records that do not pass the validation, send this Excel file back to the person who sent me the original spreadsheet. They will send the Excel Spreadsheet back once they correct the records. ...

Hi I'm still banging my head on how to import an Excel XML spreadsheet into a dataset. The code will work for standard XML files, but not XML files made with Excel (I get 'Specified cast is not valid' with the xmlread statement). What do I need to do? ... transform it perhaps? How? Or is there a better way?

I was wondering if anyone has had an issue where using vba code to read an excel file and import the data into an access table some records are not imported from the excel file. It seems looking at the data in the excel file that if the first character in the excel file cell is numeric it will read and write only numeric values only. If I sort the coloumn in the excel file and the first character in the cell read is alphanumeric then only...

Hello all, Looking for suggestions and tips if possible. I have an application running on a file server that utilizes the FileSystemWatcher to trap when any Excel files are saved by a user. I then need to 'trap' the current file and generate an XML file from the data within the active spreadsheet. I have two issues so far with doing this... Issue 1: Once a file that is being watched is saved, I grab it using the

I've just discovered a bug in some code I wrote a little while ago, and I need you guys' help to fix it. My program imports data from a standard Excel Spreadsheet (just with specific column headers). I used ODBC in my VB.NET program to read that spreadsheet into a dataset, to make it easy to manipulate. The code I use to read it is as the bottom of this posting.

Hello All, I am trying to read an Excel spreadsheet (xls) programmatically. I have used the ODBC database route and have opened the Excel spreadsheet and then using a 'CRecordset', I read each row. I correctly get that I have 13 columns, their names, etc... The problem comes when I am reading the data. I use the function 'GetFieldValue'. It correctly retrieves all data for each cell where numbers are stored as text. If a cell has a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
