Hi,
I have an asp.net webapp that uses some javascript in a hidden frame on
the browser to poll the server every 30 seconds, using an http post.
I also want my sessions to timeout in the normal fashion. The way I'm
trying to get around this is by manually setting the timeout property
for the session.
I cache the starting session timeout value and inspect each url I get.

Hi
If I use session variables does this depends on cookies being sent to the
client browser? If yes then what happens if the user disable cookies?
Thanks

I know this issue has been brought up many times, but I have tried many of
the solutions to no avail. I wanted to give my specific case to see if
someone could be of any help.
We are using the sessionstate inproc mode and users are randomly losing
their session. I do not believe it is happening across all users at one
time. It seems to happen to different users at different times, but I am
only going off heresay. The aspnet worker...

I am deploying to a web environment that uses load balancing and to insure
that sessions persist across servers, the environment uses SQL to manage
sessions. The machine.config file determines how all applications will use
sessions and to insure that all application use this method, the session
properties cannot be overriden.
Within the sessionstate tags, the webadmin (upon my request)r emoved the
property for timeout, hoping that...

In the web.config file for my application, in the <sessionState>
section I have set timeout="120" (in minutes), but session state
variables in my application seem to be expiring in about 5 minutes.
Any idea what could cause this?
I have the mode="InProc" attribute set for <sessionState>. I know that
some people have solved the problem of session variables timing out too
quickly by changing that attribute, but I cannot use...

I have some questions in regards to Session variables and IIS Recycling:
1. Does the IIS setting 'Shutdown worker process after being idle' affect
an
application's session variables?
Or is IIS checking that all sessions are done before shutting down the
worker processes?
2. Does the Recycle worker processes setting kill all session variables

I have a page where the user can upload a video file. As you can guess, this
may take a while. Is there a way I can change the session timeout for just
this one page? I would also want to change the forms authentication to be a
large value for that page also.
TIA - Jeff.

The web.config in my asp.net application, running on Server2003, has this
entry: <sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="40".
In IIS the asp.net State Management timeout setting is 40 for my website.
In IIS the virtual directory configuration setting is set to 40.
The application still timesout at 20 minutes.
What else can I do?

By default, IIS is configured to timeout a session in 20 minutes,
which can be changed through the IIS config window.
I use InProc sessionState mode. I can also set the session timeout in
web.config. So here is my question:
If IIS setting has a session timeout value of 20 minutes, but my
web.config setting has a session timeout of 30 minutes, will the
session time out in 20 minutes or in 30 minutes?

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
