Hello,
I want to install the latest Netbeans/jdk1.4.2 combination from Sun but
Installshield crashed with the message:
Error in Instructions. Invalid jvm file name specified in LAUNCH. Invalid
variable specification. Line number (5).
I did a search for all jvm.dll and java.exe already installed on my computer
(WinXP UK latest) and renamed them so they are not available anymore (maybe

The application (it's a C# app) I'm trying to create the setup for uses
MSDE. I want to add the MSDE merge modules to the setup so that it will all
get installed at once. Will both InstallShield and Wise handle this? If I
go with InstallShield will the Express version suffice, or is the Developer
version the better choice? Any suggestions or experience with either
product will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

I have a VB.Net application that I am trying to build an installation package
via InstallShield Express 5.0.
I go through the new VB.NET Wizard and it collects my info and tells me that
it is adding the install project to my solution but just opens the solution
without adding any install project.
I also tried to manually add an InstallShield Installation project but
cannot find a teplate from one when I create a new project.

I have created install packages for my ade on mssql installation as a
windows installer package in installshield and it all works fine
except;
1. I want to determine whether Access 2002 is installed and if not,
install the access 2002 runtime.
2. I need to create a shortcut which includes the "\runtime" switch to
force runtime mode for users with a full version of access. The trick
is that this requires the full path to the executable...

Hi,
I am having some problems using InstallShield Express to create a patch
for my application, a Windows vb.net project. If you have some
experience in that area and some spare time I would appreciate some
help.

It seems that the Access 97 ADT and 2000 ODE installers can seriously
mess up a customer's computer.
Sagekey sells a script to prevent this (~$500) which runs on
Wise/Installshield (~$500) for a combined cost of about $1,000.
Are there any less expensive installers which handle Access
problems/conflicts?

I have a strong named assembly (.dll) and I need it for com interop. Works
on the local machine fine XPSP2. Want to build an install. Put the dll in
the GAC and a target local folder, then took the regasm /regfile output and
put that in the reg section of installshield express. Installshield installs
the dll in the local folder, does the registry stuff but skips the install in
the GAC.
I do the gacutil /i manually and it works.
I...

Hi folks,
I have unpacked an all-in-one exe produced by InstallShield. I've made
the necessary changes and now I'm ready to repack the files.
How can I do that? Which program should I use?
For unpacking I used IsXunpack. But which one should I use to repack
the files into an all-in-one exe again? Maybe I should use
InstallShield itself, but how?

This has happened numerous times in the past and I never can pinpoint what
caused it.
It has to do with Installshield (either a failed software removal or
installation).
When a source code is opened, or VB is launched, the Installshield dialog
comes up
as of it is trying to install a software. It will then err out with a dialog
"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD Rom or other removable

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
