I have a table which is bound to an Internet Explorer XML data island. I'm using ASP.NET's client-side validators for an input field in the table. The problem is that if the input fields are in a table that is bound to the island (such that the rows are dynamically generated by IE from the XML data island), the validators do not work. If the table is not bound, the validators do work, but then I don't have the table iterating through...

I use the sub below to detect data entry error. The problem is that users are still able to move out of the textbox AFTER the sub is run (and error msg popped up) without having to correct the invalid data. In order to trap all possible movements, I have to run the sub in Key events and Mouse events. This is a lot of work. I guess there must be a way to catch all key/mouse in and out the text box so that we can run validation once and...

Hi, I need to validate some data before it is submitted preferably using any of the validation controls in Visual Studion (2003), but the validation is slightly complex and require converision to datetime format etc. I suppose it would be possible to write a regular expression to do the validation, but I don't have the skills for this. I would prefer to write a function that validates my data and return a boolean that indicates if it...

Hi, I'm looking for the best practice for creating a generic data validation implementation for my data bound business objects. I currently have a business object base class implementing the following interfaces: IEditableObject, ICloneable, INotifyPropertyChanged, and IDataErrorInfo More specifically, my IDataErrorInfo implementation is like so:

Hello everyone, I am tying to come up with an elegant way to process some input data that come from a form. When the user hits the 'Submit' button, i want the form to appear again with the already entered valid data filled in and prompt the user to re-enter the non-valid data. If all data is valid, i will forward to an other .php page which enters the data into a database. I tried to do this in the following way: the form always hits...

Does anyone know how to perform data validation in C? I have searched google for every possible result, and I either end up with data validation for C++ or nothing at all. I have also searched websites such as planet-source-code.com, but my search has been in vain. Can someone please help me out. Or at least, point me in the right direction? Thank you very much. :)

Hi every body, I have some basic queries regarding validation of data entered by different users: I have a form from where the users are going to enter the data. I have tried to put some validation rule for the data entered and I am checking at the EXIT procedure of the objects. With this, whenever an incorrect data is entered a message pops up and the focus is set to the text box again for another entry. This thing works ok but I want to...

Hi! The question of type checking/enforcing has bothered me for a while, and since this newsgroup has a wealth of competence subscribed to it, I figured this would be a great way of learning from the experts. I feel there's a tradeoff between clear, easily readdable and extensible code on one side, and safe code providing early errors and useful tracebacks on the other. I want both! How do you guys do it? What's the pythonic way? Are...

I am using an XSD schema to validate an XML document. I want to validate both XML structure and . When I try to validate the document, the validation only checks for things like proper tags, and correct data (like integer or string). So if I put any character in between tags that should embrace int then it will complain. But If I put value like 1000, between tags that should containa restrictted values like from 0 to 6 then I will get no...

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice on whether I should break the normalization rule. Normally, I would not consider it, but this seems to be a special case. I have created an "Outcomes Database" used to store response data from measures/ questionnaires for a longitudinal health study. It is essentially derived from Duane Hookom's Survey Database (thanks Duane!!!), with many modifications added to fit the needs of my lab.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
