canceling action of Installation Address Dialog in web setup

Hello,

I am writing a web setup project that acts as a patch that replaces
some resource files of an asp.net application that has previously been
installed by a web setup installer. What I want is to use the standard

Installation Address dialog that asks for virtual directory name and
port, but I DO NOT want my new patch installer to actually create that
virtual directory (that would overwrite settings of the currently
installed application's virtual directory).

Is there a setting anywhere that can cancel the creation of the virtual

directory and allow the installer to continue? If there was, I could
use a custom action to actually copy the resource files into place if
need be.

I'm using vs.net 2003.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi, I am creating a setup for my application. After installation, I want to show a window to allow configuration (language, licence key). By using custom actions and having a new project containing only an Installer class, I am able to show the form. However, if I put the Installer class in the same assembly as my application, then it doesn't run. Why? Also, when I show that window using ShowDialog(), it doesn't appear as a dialog window...

Hi there, I'm creating an installation project where at a particular point in the installation I want the user to be able to specify a filepath for use in the program. My idea was to create a form that allowed the user to choose the datapath and confirm it then add this to the installation project. I'm having trouble with this however. Does anyone know a simple procedure for doing this? Cat

Hi I've created an installation package for my Service application. This is my first attempt at an install package. In the simplest install package, the files are being created in the target directory ok. InstallUtil.exe is one of these files. I've now tried to add a custom action (I've tried both Install and Commit phases trying to get it to work) to run InstallUtil.exe, passing my service executable name (without path info) as...

I have created a web setup project for my ASP.NET application that works fine. Also, I have followed the instructions for using a custom action to launch a web page after the installation is complete. This works great too, for web pages not associated with my new application. I would like to launch a web page that is part of the application that was just installed. The sample in MSDN shows using the following syntax:

I have an installer project for my VB.net application which as a custom action runs a silent installation of a third party software product. This however, generates an error if the application is already installed. I therefore want to check if the application is already installed before launching the setup.exe to install it. I know I use the "condition" property on the custom action - but what exactly do I put in as a condition if I...

Yay!!! They fixed this for VS2005. You can now set the default installation to be "Everyone" instead of "Just Me" and you can control whether you even want those radio button installed in your Setup program. >From the Documentation http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5f981xa1.aspx =========================================================== "The InstallAllUsers property for a deployment project determines whether an application is...

I have a deployment project that I'm setting up. I need to perform a different custom action based on whether this is a first time install or an update. Does anyone have any idea if it's possible to set the Condition property of a custom action to determine if the currently running install is upgrading a previous installation and if so how? I'm also open to other methods of acheiving this functionality.

Hi, I'm using vs2005, .net 2 for a C# windows application. I'm preparing a installation package and I want to add the vcredist_86.exe to my installation. I add this exe file to my Application Folder of the setup proejct. I then add this file to the Custom Action's Install node. I set the InstallaerClass to False and delete the "/Install" fro the Arguments field. I got an error message when I run my setup at the target win2k server. ...

Hi, i'm developing a solution in VS9/CSharp. Now I'm constructing a deployment project for my appliation (thick, database driven, winforms, standard, good old type of application). During installation I also install the PostgreSQL database and along with that I need to execute some Custom Actions. I've created a Custom Installer component in CSharp and calls it on Install/Rollback/ uninstall and everything works great (Custom Actions...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
