How access data from Winforms-Appl. inside WEB-service ?

I have a winforms Application that should
share some data via WEB-Services.

Remoting is not possible for other reasons.

How can this be done ?

When the WEB-Service is hosted in IIS on the same machine,
I dont know how to access variables from the Winforms Application.
The second idea was:
Can the Winforms - Applictaion host a WEB-Service ( without IIS ) ?

But how can this be done ? I have not founs any example in VS 2003 /
2005
Is it than possible to exchange data between Winforms and WEB-Service.
Thanks for any ideas

The only way I can think of is to publish these variables to a back-end
datasource which the webservice has access to.

It is just me or has MS created some of the worst ways to access and display data? You can use a DataSet, but if you want to sort or filter the data to must use a DataView which is created from a DataSet. But, if you sort by using the Grid (clicking the header) you can no longer use the DataSet (or maybe the DataView, if that is what you are using) to locate the record that the user has selected!!

Hello, We are in the process of examining our current main application. We have to do some major changes and, in the process, are questionning/validating the use of MS Access as front-end. The application is relatively big: around 200 tables, 200 forms and sub-forms, 150 queries and 150 repports, 5GB of data (SQL Server 2000), 40 users. I'm wondering what are the disadvantages of using Access as front-end? Other that it's not...

If anyone has successfully done the following and could share how they did so I would be extremely grateful and make you a high ranking officer in the impending revolution: Launch an Access Reports App from a C# WinForms app passing the SQL connection string to Access from the C# WinForms app. I can launch the Access app using System.Diagnostics.Process and it's various properties and methods but I have been unable to pass in the...

I just created a mini-app (WinForms in C#) with a bound data grid whose data source is an Access database. It has 2 DateTime columns. I formatted the database so one of columns was GeneralDate and the other LongTime. If I type directly into the Access db, both columns display fine. When I run the app, the data loads correctly. However, if I key from the grid and call the DataAdapter's Update method, the time portion gets set to midnight...

Hi, We're are about to develop an app in C# that will use a MS Access database file for data storage. The db structure will not be modified. The user will use the C# developed app to view and edit the data (as well as add/delete records etc.). In order to distribute or app (including .mdb file) to PC's without MS Access installed do we need anything (I'm thinking specically about the MS Access Runtime)?

SQL Server will be used as the back-end database to a non trivial client application. In question is the choice of client application: I need to be able to speak intelligently about when one client (MS Access vs ..NET Windows Forms) would be preferred over the other. While I have some good arguments on both sides, I would appreciate your points of view on the topic.

Hi All, Does anyone know of any way to launch C# forms from an MS Access application? Weird question I suppose, but the reason is that I am wanting to rewrite a MS Access application into a C# winforms app. The problem is, it has to be an incremental process, and it would be nice if the user didn't have to run a winforms app for one part of the system, and the old MS Access app for another part.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
