upload/download huge files

Our company has to find a way to transfer huge files, target is maximum
of 6GB, between sites so we are looking to find the best way to do it.
There are lots of criteria we need but the most important is secure,
fast, and fault tolerant. We already have a secure website between
sites so one of the ideas was to use a control to upload and download
through there. For example, when downloading from MSDN they have a nice
download utility that handles files nicely. Something like that plus
have the ability to upload too would be fantastic.

I read somewhere that IIS does not allow uploads larger than 2GB. Not
sure if that is true or not, but if it is then that might be a problem.

We also have a secure FTP line and could use that if it proves best.
The one thing is we would really like to tie it to the website so that
the user experience is a lot easier.

Any suggestions out there?
Thanks,
Jeff

Theres tons to consider when working with large files, especially if your
using the srver for other web traffic.

You can save yourself a ton of time and work and just buy a utility
specifically for this

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. We don't have any problem
buying a utility as long as it does what we need.

FYI, I checked with one of my coworkers and he said they did buy FileUp
last year for something else but it wouldn't work with our secure
Internet site. FileUp is probably fine, it's just our site that we have
to use is very particular. We're now thinking that maybe a great FTP
client that has command line scripting might be the answer. WS_FTP Pro
seems to be good. Any others that have that kind of functionality?
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm not familair with scripting WS_FTP, but its very easy to script good old
ftp.exe.

That said, you might want to consider using some of the ftp products based
on SSH which offer secure FTP. Most of them are free.

I despise installing third party software on my workstations or servers. It is for this reason that I use componentless-upload for file uploads. This is no longer an option, and I have to purchase an upload component. For someone who hates third party software and also does not want any kind of nonsense "bonus" features like progress bars or whatever, can anyone recommend a component for me? The cost doesn't really matter. I am aware...

Hi EveryBody: I'm working with project in my company by using ASP.Net 2.0 that allow the users to upload and download files to web site in the internet as backup. The user will first upload his or her own files in the website that will save the data immediatlly into database. and when the user sign in into his or her account he can download his own files.

Hi All, I found the best pure ASP code to upload a file to either server and/or MS Access Database. It works fine for me however, there is one thing that I don't like and have tried to fix but don't have any luck is to do a form validation. This script requires the files: db-file-to-disk.asp and _upload.asp. There is a DESCRIPTION field in the db-file-to-disk.asp file, what I want to do is the user has to field out this fied before...

I'm trying to upload/download files programmaticly to a records management system. I have it working fine on my dev machine using vb.net code-behind pages but when I place it on the server when it goes to upload files it (datatable of file paths and data stored in a session var) it errors because the code can't find the files. It seems to be trying to read the file from the server drive not from the client machine. My code is meant to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
