Hello,
I am working on a test site to explore the new login controls and membership
features of ASP.NET v2.0. I have tested the controls using SQL Express and
have now decided to try using a central SQL Server 2000 database. When I use
the all of the included controls with SQL Express everything works great but
when I use it against SQL Server 2000 I can't get past the login page.
When in Visual Studio IDE and open the web admin page I...

My team builds special purpose applications to support the accounting
firm I work for. We also develop the firm's intranet.
We've started to build new applications in .Net 2.0 and I'm wondering
how well the apps will perform if we deploy them using the SQLExpress
database that is created by default as part of our apps. This would
be very nice since all of the app specific roles, membership and
profile information would be stored with...

I have created an ASP.NET 2.0 site and just published it to my webserver.
None of the database stuff works, including membership, etc.... because my
hosting company (webhost4life) claims that they do not support SQLExpress,
just SQLServer 2005.
1. How difficult is it to migrate over to SQLServer 2005 OR MS Access as my
database?
2. Will the new .NET membership classes, profile classes, etc... still work
if I switch to a SQLServer 2005...

I have only SQL Server 2005 installed on my PC. And I tried to add the
following rows in web.config to use SQL Server 2005 instead of Express:
<connectionStrings>
<clear />
<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data
Source=.\SQL2005;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\ASPNETDB.MDF;user
instance=true;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=ASPNETDB;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

First off, if this is better posted in another group that qualifies as a
manged group, please let me know.
I currently have an application written in VB.Net using MSDE as the
database. Current install is via InstallShield. As I've just found out
that MSDE is not supported under Vista, I need to migrate to SQLExpress. I
am also potentially interested in migrating to using an installer built in
Visual Studio.
I have a few questions:

is there a way using sqlexpress to review the most recent set of sql commands
submitted to a database?
I remember something about setting up logging in sql server 2000, but don't
see much about this on google or the news group for 2005.
thanks

Ok, now I'm stuck!! I've been having blue screens a lot whenever I do any
serious development in Access 97. I don't get this in 2000, and am currently
migrating towards Access 2007. I found an ariticle on Microsoft's site
saying that if you have 2 versions of full MS Outlook on your machine, it
could cause instability. I had Outlook 97 and Outlook 2000 on my machine.
So, I uninstalled Outlook 97. Big mistake!! Now, in my other access 97...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
