Problem with Windows service application

Hi,

I have created a windows service and I make entries into eventlog as well as
created a file for writing "Errors", it ran fine until i observed 2
conditions:

1. sufficient space was not allocated on eventlog and it wrote this to
"error file" and from this point on, it was not working.... but if i go to
"Services" the service still says started but nothing happens.... (increased
the space and overwrite after 7 days)

2. If the service bombs for some reason then it does nothing.... but if i
go to "Services" the service still says started

unless i see the "error log file", i cant say whether the service is working
or not
Can someone please suggest me how to stop the service when the "Service"
errors out?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi, I'm working on a project which includes WebServices and Windows Form application. The Windows Form application will call the WebServices to retrieve data from database. The data will be returned as DataSet. Now, here's the problem. On .NET Framework 1.1, if any rows in the dataset returned contain errors (marked by calling the SetColumnError() method or

The client is a Web Application which makes calls to the service. We are using tcp channel which is using binaryformatter by default. The problem is that after a certain number of remoting calls the calls dont get through to the server. The client application makes the call and...

I'm getting Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection errors on a .Net windows service I wrote, when it's running on my application server. It's not a problem with mixed mode security. I'm set for mixed mode and I've been running the service on the app server for over a month with no problem. My database is running on a second server and both are under the same domain. The problem has occurred twice over the last two months.

Hi all, I have replied with my own questions to an older post entry but after a while I thought it's better to start a new thread based on the previous one. Perhaps with the new thread I will catch more eyes and find someone who had the same problem and solved it or has more information about it. This is a summary of my problem:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
