Can anyone explain me why it is neccesary to include SqlDbType to the
SqlParameter. In every example I see, it is done, but no one explaines
why.
I have for example a date I want to save into my Sql Server database
through a stored procedure-call. In the database it is defined as a
SmallDateTime. Every 3 methods in the client-code below gives the same
(and correct) result. So why is it that important?
dim param As SqlParameter

Hi,
The SqlParameter myPM =new SqlParameter("@Address", txtAddress.Text) is
working for update,
but SqlParameter myPM =new SqlParameter
("@Address",SqlDbType.NVarChar,90,txtAddress.Text) is not working.
The Address column is DataType NVarChar 90, no problem.
Any idea?

Hi, I have a button that fires the below sub routine.
This works fine if the user clicks the button as they are
supposed to, even if they click it repeatedly. However,
if you click "refresh" on the browswer, then it
duplicates records. I believe this is happening because
somehow it isnt doing the first part of my code which is
to to an archive update.
I can't for the life of me figure out why this happens
only when you click refresh on...

I'm trying to create the form which would allow data entry
to the Client table, as well as modification and deletion
of existing data rows. For some reason the DataGrid part
of functionality stops working when I include data entry
fields to the form: I click on Delete or Edit inside of
DataGrid and get this error: "Error: Object doesn't
support this property or method"
If I remove data entry fields from the form - DataGrid
allows to...

Hey all, I'm a relative newcomer to asp.net and have 2 simple code
snippets below. Everything works fine, I'm just curious if there is a
more efficient way to do the job as the update takes quite a while.
Here's the proc:

CREATE PROCEDURE
@Recon char(10),
@Book nvarchar(50),
@Van nvarchar(5),

It's a simple test... VERY SIMPLE. But...
In an external stlyesheet some attributes don't show. With the same
styles cut and pasted to the test internally it works as expected.
Anyone tell me why? Its probably sooooooo obvious, but it is 1.19 am!
Thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
