Formatting a date in a FormView control?

What's the simplest way to format a date in a FormView control? I've been
looking for something like a DataFormatStrin g property, but it doesn't look
like the control itself, nor the consitutent controls in its templates, has
a property like that. What I want to do is apply a ShortDate format to a
date value.

What's the best way to handle this? Thanks in advance.

Try clicking on the control for date and on the Smart Tag go to Edit
bindings...

You can apply different types of formatting on the field.... {0:D}

I forget the parmater for shortdatetime. Maybe {0:d} ?

Hello all! For quite some time now, I've got the following problem: Access won't close properly when a user closes the application. An ACCESS process stays active and that process can only be terminated by pressing ++ and then terminate the process. I searched the entire internet and found out that there could be two things wrong (both of them are mentioned in the bug list on the access

Hello, I am creating an edit template for a FormView control, changing one of the textboxes to a dropdown box. The dropdown will be populated from a simple table with the primary key, and a description (i.e. a colors table, so there is a colors ID and a color description). The data source the FormView is pulling data from stores (in this example) the primary key for the colors table. My ultimate goal is when the FormView goes into...

Hi, I have a problem with bindings in a formview. I have a formview; in the insert template i've created a wizard control and inside it i have an HTML table with some textboxes bound to the sqldatasource of the formview. If i put this textboxes outside the table everything works well, but as soon as i put them inside the table (in order to organize the layout in the right way) they doesn't work. They works only as eval() and not bind()...

I have a formview control in my project (VS2005/ASP.NET 2.0) and I have one field that is a date. I have it formatting correctly as a short date (MM/dd/yyyy) but when I click the edit link to edit the record, it is showing the long date/time format. How do I force the thing to only show short date format while in edit mode also? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am trying to bind an arraylist to a FormView DropDownList control in the PreRender state. The error that I get is the following: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. Any help with this would be appreciated. -- Thanks in advance,

I'm trying to create a formview bound to a sqldatasource, and use a stored procedure to insert data from the formview into several tables. I have some simplified code below, the real code is much longer but this should illustrate the problem: <asp:FormView ID="bookFormView" runat="server" DataSourceID="bookSqlDataSource"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:textBox id="name" text='<%# Eval("name") %>'

Hi, Im using a lot of formview's in my asp.net app, and it gets a bit frustrating to tie a datasource to the formview and have it generate the labels and fields for the datasource, to only then have to go hand-edit eveything to arrange the fields how I want them. Ive poked around in the formview to see if there is a way to overrid the default template rendering, but no luck so far.

I can see which button is clicked in the ItemCommand event but I can't redirect from here because the ItemUpdated event hasn't fired yet. I can put a variable in the code-behind class which is gets the

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
