how to rate a post?

Hi,
I am new to this discussion forum. I started to post questions on this forum
since this Jan. and got many good responses and I am very appreciated to
those who are willing to help with their expertise. That save me a lot of
time and stress.
I want to rate the post, but I only see questions "is this post helpful" and
" why should I rate a post" link. I didn't see any thing "rate the post"
link. I already sign into the community already. Did I miss something?

Betty:
I don't have numbers, but I imagine that most of us access this "discussion
forum" in the raw NNTP (newsgroup) format. There are many websites which
provide web-interfaces to these newsgroups, including Google Groups and
Microsoft - the rest of us use a news reader, such as outlook express. I
assume you are talking about the Micorosft newsgroups as I know they offer
the "Was this useful" feature. I don't think they offer a means to rate a
post however.

I can't speak for everyone, but as a frequent poster here, I think simply
following up the thread, even just to say it worked, is pretty good. It
might help others who have similar problems as well. Even if you did rate
the post, many (most??) of us woudln't have access to the information
(because it's data only available to the specific website, not as part of
the actual nntp protocol).

I guess in the end, I'm just sorta old fashion and I like the plain
simplicity of the newsgroups.

Thank you, Karl.
I will do which you sugguested, actually this the way I usually do on other
discussion forums. I thought the newsgroup want me to rate since they have
"why should I rate a post?" link, maybe I misunderstood it.
I use web to access this forum.
By the way,is there a way to pull up all threads posted by myself besides
searching
the keys words?

Well, you can click on your name, and in the top right corner there's a link
'recent posts made by this person' or something. The resulting page might be
bookmarkable (not sure). For example, for you I get:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...&lang=en&cr=US

Very interesting, I didn't see my name anywhere on the top right corner, I
only see edit my profile, help and signout links( on the MSDN Managed
Newsgroups page). What is the link for Google or microsoft who don't have
passport to sign into this forum. I didn't use newsreader, maybe they have
different interface for microsoft newsgroup and other web-interface?

Hi Betty,

I think Karl's right , the current MSDN newsgroup is still NNTP based and
the web interface is also just a front of the underlying NNTP data... So it
dosn't include many of the functions in some other web based newsgroup or
forums... And we do have plans on opening some new web based forums and
the below msdn forum is just one of them:

http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/default.aspx?siteid=1

also, it's welcome that you submit your such request and question also to
the MSDN feedback center:

http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/default.aspx?siteid=1

woah...slow down there Steven...these newsgroups are still the #1 place for
ASP.NET related information. Frankly, I thought it was against the newsgroup
rules (albeit unofficially) to even LINK to those forums.

All joking aside, the community server forums are pretty rock solid, but I
wouldn't trade in my news reader for anything!

Thanks for your input Karl,

Of course, MSDN/ TECHNET/VAP newsgroups are still the main force :)

HI My application connects to the UPS server which returns an ISO-8859-1 encoded XML response. I need a part of this response, ie. the AccessLicenseAgreement , which i need to display in my application and then return to the UPS server with the next request. Their server matches what they sent me with what i return back to them. Due to the difference in the encoding method it returns an Invalid AccessLicenseAgreement error back to me. I set my...

New to access, but to deja.com. Looked through many posts, but can not find a good post for my problem (I believe there is, but my access level didn't allow me to understand). I have a table for cash flow of a shop. Forreign currencies are accepted. I built the tables accordingly: CURRENCY TYPE (USD, EURO, POUND ETC), AMOUNT OF THE CURRENCY. RATE FOR LOCAL CURRENCY and LOCAL CURRENCY VALUE. When I entered the type of currency (eg USD),...

I need help designing a query (or two) in MS Access that will calculate a compounded rate of interest. This would be no problem using a simple FV function if the Interest Rate were constant. Unfortunately the Interest rate changes through time. Whenever a new interest rate period begins, I need to calculate the interest for the new period using the ending balance from the previous interest rate period. See example below. Unfortunately,...

I input the data as it comes in, into a mysql database that has both a unix_timestamp() field and the rate field. Neither field is indexed. What I need to do is calculate the Moving Average by taking the rate from 30 seconds, 60, 90, etc seconds ago. Currently I am using the humungous sub query select statement below. Are...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
