I'd like to learn more about this style of programming in Python.
In this style or pattern, a high level class is given an instance
(or a class from which it creates an instance), then uses that
instance to perform its tasks. A user of the higher-level class
can customize the function of that class by implementing or
customizing details in lower-level class.
I've seen it a number of times. It seems quite useful. It
provides loose...

I've been wading through the O'Reilly XSLT book. All seemed OK and sensible
until I got to the "programming" bit - variables, loops, conditions and so
on.
Do people actually use this stuff for real work? I can the advantages of,
say, being able to number pages or something, but surely to do any real
work with this syntax is very difficult?
The concepts don't really intimidate me. I've done a little functional-style
programming, and...

There is a LARGE number of syntax styles in most (if not all)
programming languages.
For example, one syntax style (my current one):
....
int main()
{
for (int i = 0; i < 50; i++)

C++ Programming Style Guidelines

I think that these guidelines are almost *all* wrong.
For example:
11. Private class variables should have underscore suffix.

It's dawning on my a lot of my problems with VB.NET is I'm still approaching
it in the same way I've programmed since the late 70's. I've always been
very structured, flow-charted everything, used subroutines, etc. Now I'm
trying to study this new way and I'm getting some terms confused and can
find no clear definition (some even overlap or use two different words for
the same thing, even when they are actually different).
I'm reading a...

Hi all,
I have implemented a timing out version of fgets function call. I am
pasting the entire code below. I have following doubts:
1. The code which I have written does it follow standard C programming
conventions. ( I am pretty familar with java styles but not with c :-(
).
2. In order to read character by character from stdin , I have made use

Hi,
I'm interested in techniques used to program in an object-oriented way
using the C ANSI language. I'm studying the GObject library and Laurent
Deniau's OOPC framework published on his web site at
http://ldeniau.web.cern.ch/ldeniau/html/oopc/oopc.html. The approach is
very instructive. I know that I could do much of this stuff with e.g.
C++, but the intellectual challenge of implementing these concepts with
pure ANSI C is relevant to...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
