From the command prompt type netstat -a and look out for anything running on
the non standard ports. Or even on the standard ports, so if you dont have
telenet active make sure port 23 (i think from memory) isnt open etc.

Knowing if it is a threat depends on your server, you should know what ports
should and should not be in use just from the apps you have installed.

I need to get a list of "Open"/In-Use TCP Ports (actually to see if there is a cponnection with a destination Port of 21) I think what I'm after is similar to the output of netstat. I could run netstat and parse the output, but I'd prefer not to as I'm going to be doing this in a service and it needs to monitor the ports every few seconds. Any advice on how I can do it.

Hi, I wrote a C# program that is calling C++ legacy code to open a serial port (using CreateFile (comPort, GENERIC_READ|GENERIC_WRITE,0,NULL,OPEN_EXISTING,FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED,NULL)) .. So far, it works. Now, at startup, I start 4 C# threads. These threads are opening Com ports #2, #3, #4 and #5. Sometimes, these 4 Com ports are opened successfully but, most of the time,

I opened few PORTS during my trial runs and somehow the telnet session got crashed and I couldn't explicitly close the PORTs. Now when I try my program I get the following error http://152.69.155.107/chatserver2.php <<

Hi, I've a strange problem with serial port class of .NET Framework 2.0 I use com0com (Null Modem COM Port emulator) to emulate a virtual port. This application creates virtual com port pairs with starting with CNCA0 <-CNCB0 CNCA1<-CNCB1 etc., When I created a port with this name and try to open it using SerialPort.Open,

Hi Folks, I am newbie to Python, but have successfully created a simple client and server setup, I have one issue though. I am trying to test a box by sending many TCP conns (WHILE loop) but not closing them with a FIN/RST. However, no matter what i do, i cannot get the loop to stop sending FIN from the client. Any clues?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
