Setup of IIS6 server

Not finding assistnace on a networking site so I thought that I'd post this
here as well.
I have a rebuild of a server and we took the OS to 2003 for 2000.

I am confused on setting up IIS6.

This is a stage server and will have 2 IP's .56 and .32 I have the IP's
bound to the NIC and they ping through the DNS like it use to.

I have internal sites going to .56 and external sites going to .32

I can set the WEB Site pointing to my primary subfolder for each envionment.
www.myplace.com = d:\internal www.ourplace.com = d:\external

I can't get our various sub dirs in each envornment to work.
www.myplace.com/admin should kick off the default.asp page in
d:\internal\adm in\ Unfortunalty it doesn't :(

I can't get any of the sub dirs to display in either internal or external???
they would be admin \ cbd \ orders \ products \ ....

I have tried to do the virtual site in IIS, and that hasn't worked. I tried
the old school method in the explorer for Web Sharing. Neither has seemed
to work.

What have I missed?

TIA

Greets, Part of the content of one of our web pages uses wingdings and Chr(239) through Chr(242) (which are little arrow outlines, though that's not really important.) It worked just fine in Windows 2000 Server, but now under Server 2003 it seems that characters above 127 get converted somehow, and our code no longer produces the desired effect.

I'm setting up a new IIS server with Win2003 IIS6 and ran the VS.NET 1.1 setup and just selected the Server Components and it didn't add the ASPNET user or the ASP.NET service. I'm not sure why, has anyone else experienced this, any ideas for setting this up now? Thanks, John

I would love to be pointed in the direction of resources that help better understand the following (I've spent considerable time searching the MS website): 1.) As a ASP.NET developer I've traditionally worked in the environment of a workstation with VS.NET and a Windows2003 server with IIS6.0 and SQL Server. Is that the most popular model. I know that if a developer needed to travel that they could install IIS and Sql Server locally, but...

Until now all of my VS2003 asp.net websites have been deployed to the target server's IIS6+ Default Web Site. Now I need to deploy to a different website and that seems to present a problem. Normally, I set up a directory structure to hold the application files and then create the virtual directory. Now instead of a virtual directory I've created a new Web sight and registered the IP address and Host Header information with the DNS...

I have an application that communicates with the Company's Active Directory to get the OU of the users. This said application is an ASP.Net web site and has the Windows Authentication enabled. . Now, here's the anomaly: If the application is run on a Server using IIS 5.1, the application works like a charm and the communcation with the Active Directory occurs without any problem.

Okay, this is really weird. We have two Windows 2003 Server SP1 PCs. One hosts IIS6 website, and the other hosts our DCOM service program. Our website is ASP/XSL. An ASP page uses Msxml2.DOMDocument.4.0 to transform a XML top node via XSL stylesheet outputting to HTML. We have set up the website on-site successfully with no problems. However, when we upgraded our client some how IIS6 still references a really old XSL file. No matter how...

Can you install IIS6 on a system other than Windows Server 2003? I'd like to install IIS6 on Windows XP. I've been trying to find out the system requirements for IIS6 but I haven't found a clear article that outlines which operating systems it will work on. I gathered that it works on Windows Server 2003...but there's no mention of it working on Windows XP. However, there is a tool kit for IIS6 that works on Windows XP (but doesn't...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
