Simple question: Buidling Web setup project ?

dear all,

I have build a web application and greate a web setup projet to deploy it.
I have select the option to generate files for network installation.
Based on that I copy generated setup file to my server and proceed with
installation.
Everything works fine, folders are properlw created and IIS virtual
directory succesfully configured.

Now question comes from the next issue: I then copy the previous generated
installation and copied it on CD to deliver it to one customer for testing.
Then I instruct my customer to run setup directly from CD rom.
Based on that I got an error from the setup asking me to verify my virtual
directory setting on IIS ????

In fact runing setup from CD do not create virtual directory folder, I need
to create it manually to be able to install it.

What it is so ?

Does it hande setup dfifferently when running from Cd ?

Thanks to anyone who could help me clarifying that piont
regards
Serge

I am busy packaging our product as a standard Setup project in VS.NET that uses a bunch of merge modules (basically, a merge module for every key infrastructure component in our system). Part of the installation needs to "dump" a bunch of files (third party product's project files) to the user's system. These files are transient in nature in that the user may choose

Hi, I am trying to create an installer for my web application. So I added a web setup project to my solution (I am using VS.NET 2003). Been playing around with it since then and it basically works. Now, I am wondering if there is any way to change the directory that the installer installs the files to. I want to be able to put my files in a specified directory (user specified is good, but i don't mind hardcoding the path either) and...

When I build my setup project, I get three files: setup.exe, setup.ini. and myapplication.msi. These go into a folder called (setup project)/bin/Release. If any other files are in that folder, they get deleted. What I'd *like* is that when I build the setup project, the files that it creates should go into a directory that I specify, and not delete any other files that are already in it. That way I can maintain an image of my...

Hi there I have an ASP.NET web application created in Visual Studio 2005. The application is installed to a subdirectory in wwwroot, which is mapped in turn to a virtual directory under the Default Web Site. I would like to load the application in the browser using a simple name, e.g. http://test rather than http://localhost/test. Is there a way to map a virtual directory to such a simple name from within the Visual Studio 2005 web setup...

Greetings, Here's a question about deploying my C# application. My program includes a large library of data files. As far as I can tell, data files can only be added to a deployment project one at a time. Is there a way to add a whole folder, with all its contents and subfolders, to a deployment project such that it will be installed into a particular folder on the target machine, preserving all the structure?

I am reviewing Windows service programming. I'm running VS2005 and programming in VB. I've just found an example in Support: 'How to create a Setup project for a Windows Service in Visual Basic .NET or in Visual Basic 2005' http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317421 I've been able to program and run this example without problems. However, I wonder if I'm missing the point here. How do you deploy a service like this to a machine...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
