Lost Fonts - Fonts are installed but they couldn´t be instantiated

Hello everyone,

Did anyone know the problem that an installed font (Win2003 server) could
not be instantiated? The line of matter looks like this:

Font myFont = new Font("Monotype Corsiva", 16, FontStyle.Itali c);

It breaks with an ArgumentExcepti on "Cannot find font '?'" and the stack says:

Stack: at System.Drawing. FontFamily.get_ GenericSansSeri f()
at System.Drawing. Font.CreateFont FamilyWithFallb ack(String familyName)
at System.Drawing. Font.Initialize (String familyName, Single emSize,
FontStyle style, GraphicsUnit unit)
at System.Drawing. Font..ctor(Stri ng familyName, Single emSize, FontStyle
style)
....

Even if I am running a loop to get all FontFamilies this results in an array
with the length of zero (locally I can get all fonts by this way - and
instantiate the font as well).

May it be that there are security-reasons which block my request to
instantiate an existing font or could an update of microsoft be the reason?

I have just recompiled, upgraded to PHP 4.3.4. As an exercise (and curiosity) I've decided to test out PDF functions and got the test in the PHP online manual working. I had one problem whereby the example refered to Times New Roman - I didn't have this, but I did have Times-Roman which worked. My question - How do I know what fonts I *do* have available? I've run phpinfo() and gd_info() which I hope is enough to tell some wise person...

I hope this is the right news group to ask but if not I'm sure someone will correct me. I have a .NET application that uses 3 different 3 of 9 TrueType fonts. If I have a newly installed OS (2000 or XP) and print the document containing a barcode, the barcode is printed with the wrong font. We had a machine that did print correctly and so we started experimenting to see what produced the correct rendering when printed. It turns out that...

My application allows the user to select fonts. I fill in a combo box control with the available fonts by looping through all System.Fonts: ' Get all the screen fonts ReDim sFontNameList(Screen.FontCount - 1) For i = 0 To Screen.FontCount - 1 sFontNameList(i) = Screen.Fonts(i) Next i

Don't really want to embed fonts, it adds to the download time, although this may be my only choice. I am also not sure how the browsers handle families of fonts. I am using Arial and Sans-Serif for ALL the languages and the client sees empty squares instead of a language font until they install a particular culture. Embedding a whole family of fonts does not sound like a fast download.

Hello. I'm trying to load fonts in a web page using "style" tag. The TTF files are in other page whose URL is, for example, "http://myURL/fonts". The HTML code is something like: <html> <head> <style> @font-face {

I'm trying to design my style sheets such that my pages have similar-looking fonts different platforms (Linux, Mac, Adobe, X-Windows, MS Windows, etc). The problem is, a font on one platform might be the same as a font on another platform, but with different names. I'd like to be able to specify the font names that are "most equivalent." For example, "Lucida Console" is a very attractive and readable monospaced font available in...

1. I've installed a bunch of fonts in main application, which is in native C++ code using AddFontResourceEx 2. A C# application is launched from this main application, but failed to enumerate those installed fonts. My issue is that I don't want those fonts to be used outside of the main application so that I've set the font characteristics as FR_PRIVATE. However, I want the C# application be able to use those fonts. Although the C# app...

Two days ago, MS office Word would type JP fonts, I thought. I didn't think I was using Works. Now, it won't type in JP. Jasc Paint shop pro 8, should type JP fonts because I am using XP, according to Corel's website, and Jasc uses whatever is in the XP font folder. But, it won't. All the JP fonts types as English, even with JP selected in the Language Bar. I can't afford to upgrade to any better paint program. I do have a free JP word...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
