I have just recompiled, upgraded to PHP 4.3.4. As an exercise (and
curiosity) I've decided to test out PDF functions and got the test in the
PHP online manual working. I had one problem whereby the example refered to
Times New Roman - I didn't have this, but I did have Times-Roman which
worked.
My question - How do I know what fonts I *do* have available? I've run
phpinfo() and gd_info() which I hope is enough to tell some wise person...

correct me.
I have a .NET application that uses 3 different 3 of 9 TrueType fonts. If I
have a newly installed OS (2000 or XP) and print the document containing a
barcode, the barcode is printed with the wrong font. We had a machine that
did print correctly and so we started experimenting to see what produced the
correct rendering when printed. It turns out that...

My application allows the user to select fonts. I fill in a combo box
control with the available fonts by looping through all System.Fonts:

Don't really want to embed fonts, it adds to the download
time, although this may be my only choice.
I am also not sure how the browsers handle families of
fonts. I am using Arial and Sans-Serif for ALL the
languages and the client sees empty squares instead of a
language font until they install a particular culture.
Embedding a whole family of fonts does not sound like a
fast download.

Hello everyone,
Did anyone know the problem that an installed font (Win2003 server) could
not be instantiated? The line of matter looks like this:
Font myFont = new Font("Monotype Corsiva", 16, FontStyle.Italic);
It breaks with an ArgumentException "Cannot find font '?'" and the stack says:
Stack: at System.Drawing.FontFamily.get_GenericSansSerif()

I'm trying to design my style sheets such that my pages have
similar-looking fonts different platforms (Linux, Mac, Adobe,
X-Windows, MS Windows, etc).
The problem is, a font on one platform might be the same as a font on
another platform, but with different names. I'd like to be able to

2. A C# application is launched from this main application, but failed to
enumerate those installed fonts.
My issue is that I don't want those fonts to be used outside of the main

Two days ago, MS office Word would type JP fonts, I thought. I didn't think I was using Works. Now, it won't type in JP. Jasc Paint shop pro 8, should type JP fonts because I am using XP, according to Corel's website, and Jasc uses whatever is in the XP font folder. But, it won't.
