font antialiasing

PJ6
I was provided a bitmap containing some text as a starting point for a
header design. In translating it to a table and real text, it just doesn't
look as good as the original because the font rendering isn't antialiased -
it's downright jagged. Is there a way to smooth the font a bit or will I
have to render my own bitmaps for a better look?

From: http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.imagettftext.php "color is the color index. Using the negative of a color index has the effect of turning off antialiasing." I'm using a bundled version of GD: 2.0.23 compatible. When using the function imagettftext() with a negative color to get a aliased text as stated in the docs the text gets grainy. Not antialised, and not aliased. Something in between (ugly!). I've tried several fonts....

Assuming default set-ups and considering all reasonable browsers, whatever that may mean, what should an author expect that his readers in general will see (with visual browsers) for a page with body like <br><br> Abc <font size=+1> Abc <font size=+1> Abc <font size=+1> Abc <font size=+1> Abc <font size=+1>

I have the item below at the top of my style sheet. And it seems that the font-szie is ignored. I know that my linked style sheet is being read, and used because if I remove the font-family line, the font changes. But it appears that no matter what I do with the font-size, it is ignored, and I cannot figure out why! Any clues? At the very bottom is the entire style sheet, just incase anyone comes accross something that they feel is...

Hi, I'm trying to migrate from Java to C# and have encountered a problem. I can't seem to find a way to create (ultra)condensed fonts for later use in a program. In Java I had a really nice method some_font.deriveFont(AffineTransform), which would return a new font. (AffineTransform was just a simple 3x3 matrix) I'll be most grateful for the help.
